Anyone else on the November 4 Paul Gaugin? Linda L found us a Cat C. Learned an important lesson, plan early. We had to do Tikehau precruise. Does anyone have any thoughts about Tikehau? Recommendations for things to do? We will miss our beach bungalow at the Bora Bora Le Meridien however that's life.

I think you will enjoy Tikehau.
It is quite different and like stepping back in time. Tiny place but rather delightful. The setting is beautiful and you arrive by boat from the airport (a landing strip and one small "building"). The rooms are very nice. It is a little quiet but if you enjoy snorkelling and really chilling out this is quite a change from the main society islands. When we were there small children from the local village danced and sang for us while we ate dinner. Quite different from the normal shows because these really were just kids not professionals. We found it charming.
It has been about four years since I went and it was brand new at that time. I am sure it has changed a little since then.
Good to try something new anyway, I think you will be happy with this choice.

Egret - welcome to LCT! We've never been to Tikehau so I can't help you there but we've been on the PG twice and I know you'll love the cruise. We did stay on Manihi in 2004 and it is also a very small quiet spot in paradise so my guess is that Tikehau would be a perfect place to unwind.

Thanks for the encouragement Kathy. This will be our third time on the Paul Gaugin. Our previous precruises were at Le Meridian on Bora Bora. We wish they had kept that as an option however we probably would have been booking too late for that hotel anyway. We plan on taking plenty of books to read and maybe some snorkeling while at Tikehau. If anyone else is on the 11-4-06 cruise, let us know. Maybe we can get together for martinis and cosmos.
