I bet if the Diamond was still around, we could fill her up!

Awww .. let's ask Regent to charter MS Diamont (a/k/a Song of Flower). Then it'll be a sell out with a waiting list.
Cheers, Anne

I like that idea even better! It's been over 10 years since I have last been on the SoF!

I'm game for Le Diamont, too. 3.5 years since I've been on the Song. Pondant says the ship now carries 226 passengers, where the Song had 180 with only 10 balcony suites. But it wouldn't be the Song without the wonderful Regent staff and crew. I bet Phil, JJ and Helen would come back.

My first cruise was on the Song to the Baltics in 2001. Wouldn't an SOF/LCT cruise be great!!! Of course, I agree with Beth, it wasn't the ship as much as the staff that made it such a terrific experience. The Voyager/Mariner balconies and suites have spoiled me so I wonder if that would change my perspective? Nah, not with an all LCT cruise.

Same here - Diamond the first - I have no interest in trying another line - we have loved every cruise so don't want to "rock the boat" so to speak!!!- and the fellow cruisers contribute immensely -

I had a wonderful visit on the Song with Suzanne, who was obviously a favorite of the staff, and feel honored I at least got to see her. Really though, that ship under a different line wouldn't be what I would choose, unless Regent chartered it! Then it would be a stretch. I guess you really need to have been there! I could also go back the the Diamond under Regent charter, but not possible as it has been changed completely into a gambling place! Sometimes we just gotta let it go and hold memories close that cannot be revived!

My university alumni group has a very active travel program and this year featured a trip to Antarctica. Guess what ship they were using? Yep, M. S. Diamant! My heart leaped, but as has been stated here 'she' just wouldn't be the same as it was the staff and crew her made her so special.
I'm happy to keep the memories of the Song alive. Le Diamant is another ship.

The Song and Diamond live on at Regent, sort of. While filling out the passenger information for our upcoming cruise, I noted that the drop-down menu where you shoose the ship you are sailing on still lists the Diamond and Song of Flower!

Oh my Suzanne as much as I LOVE the Song I CANNOT believe they are really taking her to Antarctica. I had heard that rumor years ago and did not think it would happen.
She is NOT the ship to go to Antarctica. Her engines are always breaking down (as all of us remember from the Regent Song days) and parts for her engines are a nightmare to get. Taking a ship like that down there is something that makes me quiver!!! If anything goes wrong what a mess, trying to get parts to Antarctica and the ship back.
I dont think she has a reinforced ice hull, are they doing landings, do they have zodiacs or are they just sailing around?

It happened earlier this year! Perhaps you and she were "ships passing in the night" without even knowing!
"Today, we are proud to introduce a unique itinerary to this untouched wilderness aboard the exclusively chartered m.s. Le Diamant, one of the world’s most celebrated small cruise ships. Refurbished in 2004, this deluxe vessel creates a luxurious ambiance for participants, who are comfortably accommodated in outside cabins. With impeccable standards of service, savory cuisine and elegant décor, m.s. Le Diamant is the finest vessel cruising the Antarctic waters.
To enhance your Antarctic experience, m.s. Le Diamant is staffed with an expert expedition team who will guide you on excursions ashore. Under their direction, you will board sturdy Zodiac craft for landings on rocky shores and beaches to observe the antics of Antarctica’s bountiful wildlife — penguins and seals especially are unafraid of human visitors — and discover the secrets of the White Continent.
You will be sailing during the lingering light of the austral summer, when long sunrises paint the icescape in soft shades of pink and gold as whales, seals and penguins flock to glimmering turquoise glaciers and sparkling icebergs. This itinerary featuring the deluxe m.s. Le Diamant has sold out completely the last two years! "

Well there you go. I did not know she was actually doing this itinerary. The Hanseatic, the Explorer II and the Diamant all claim to be the finest ship in Antarctica!!!
