This morning we are coming into the port of Alexandria, quite warm and humid! We had to make a hard turn into the port entrance and the ship really leaned over, we were in the dining room and several trays of dirty dishes went flying and made quite a mess. We have short shore excursions this afternoon, spend the night and have all day tour to the pyramids tomorrow. Tours leave at 5 AM, guess it's early to bed tonight. This has been a very port intensive cruise since we started in Istanbul, so far only one sea day when we transitioned from the Black Sea to the Med. We heard several cruisers that came aboard in Athens say that they had been offered a substantial amount of compensation if they would cancel out of their cruise as it was overbooked? I had never heard of this before. Noel

Yes, it was overbooked, and there have been mulitple cruises overbooked this year. Actually the system has worked well and Regent offers a combination of benefits to the guest to voluntarily bump. These may be a full refund and cash or a full refund and a shipboard credit, a substitute cruise or cruises that are usually much longer, often in a large suite.
How they select those people to offer the voluntary bump to I do not know and this could vary from cruise to cruise depending on how much additional space they require.
This particular sailing had some wonderful offers. If a person is flexible with their vacation plans a lot of guests are extremely happy with the situation.

Konagolfer,
There are two other LCT couples on board with you!
We should rendez-vous some evning for a cocktail!
Have the concierge point us out to you. I'm the one with the handsome bald guy making a fool of myself on the dancefloor in the evening!
