During half-time of the superbowl, we received an e-mail from our son Christoph who's honeymooning on the P.G. They left Rangiroa yesterday at noon and within an hour or two they lost the port engine due to overheating. The other engine is still working and was keeping them in place. However by that time they had left the bay and were really rocking due to the ocean currents. The crew was working on the engine, sure hope it's fixed by now and they're on their way to bora-bora.

I hope so too, I mean about the shop being fixed! I'm all excited for this coming SAT departure out of Papeete and wouldn't like a broken ship or fouled up schedule.
Maybe I shouldn't have read this, as now I'm all worried.
(but thanks for the possible warning of what could happen.)

Hi Barbara...congratulations to Christoph! What a wonderful choice for a honeymoon.
Please give him our regards. Hope the engines are running again!

Thanks Margo, Christoph will be thrilled to hear that you sent your best. He always remembers what fun we had at our 'lct' dinner down in sarasota that you organized and where we were able to put faces to names we see here. I teased him and his bride, saying we didn't want any 'souvenirs' to show up 9 months after the cruise. well, first the poor girl had a run-in with coral and last night was pretty much out of commission from the ship rock and rolling. so we're not worried too much about that anymore! tonight they're supposed to spend it on bora bora in an over-the water bungalow with breakfast being brought in a canoe. i'm waiting to hear from him today to see if the engine was able to be fixed and they've actually arrived.
