From what I have read, SAND will be the first cruise after the scheduled drydock. What does the crew due during that week? Maybe they will be well rested for the SANDies ;)

I wonder what items are being refurbished or is this an mechanical drydock?

Karen, I know when we were on the Silver Cloud last year, we were the last cruise before the ship went into drydock in Genoa. We asked the staff and they said that everybody, except for the Captain, would still all be onboard working.

I thought that I read somewhere that this drydock was for soft goods, but then again that might have been the Silver Cloud drydock.

Anyone on the Navigator who can ask? And who will be our Cruise Director? I think I heard Sam Perry - haven't sailed with him.

When I wa on it in July, they said it was basically decorating. I know they started redoing carpets when the cabins were emptyk but there is a lot of carpeting to be updated/

Kathy, Sam Perry was our CD for the Navigator's trip to Tahiti last year - he's from Australia and very personable. I think you'll like him!

I talked to the captain at length a couple weeks ago as we have some things in common. We got on the subject of the dry dock and he said it was fairly extensive, with new flooring, wood trim where needed, new charis, etc. Evidently, there are also many problems with the plumbing that were going to get fixed and other infastructure that the average guest is not going to notice.

The carpets had been changed out in our room (517), but not yet in the hallway, nor the public areas. They, along with the walls, showed signs of wear.

Sam is my favorite. My first RSSC cruise was on the Navigator was with the Radd's. Was not impressed. Did nothing special for people traveling solo.

Then I went on a 5 day Diamond cruise in the Carribbean with Sam as CD and had the best time. Got us all together the first night and had the best time.

Then I went on the last Diamond Crossing all the way to Barcelona with Sam again. Was so good that I am going on the Navigator crossing in April.

In March I was on the Navigator which was being sold as a Diamond Crossing reunion. Sam was a guest CD. Sam even got me into the Shuffle Board tournament.

So I hope Sam is CD but Julie did not think he was.
