Our son Christoph was married in November and our wedding gift to them is the Jan. 31st P.G 10 night cruise. I see a honeymoon ceremony as an optional gift once they're onboard. Just wondering if anyone has done it and what it specifically entails. Would love to hear details from anyone who's done it and if they think it was worthwhile.

They have a special cocktail party for honeymooners and anniversary couples where they perform a traditional Tahitian ceremony. They then wrap the couple in a pareo and snap a photo with the Gauguines. I'm not sure if this is what they are referring to. We didn't pre-arrange anything, and there was no extra cost (except if you wanted to buy the photo).

If they are charging for it, then it may be a totally different experience than what we had.

Thanks for the info. That sounds alot like the package they are offering for $300.
The package also includes a miniature cake, flower arrangement, insuite canapes every night, congratulations letter from the captain, an 8x10 photo and the ceremony.
Could I ask how long ago you participated in this ceremony?

The $300 package above is on all ships except the PG.

We were on the PG in May 2005. We also got a small cake and a couple glasses of Champagne in our cabin on the evening of our anniversary with a congrats letter from the Captain. There were probably 20-25 couples on the ship celebrating an anniversary or a honeymoon. Just make sure their travel agent puts a note in their booking that they are on their honeymoon. Or have them mention it to them when they check in so they get invited to the party.

Together with the tickets last week, we received an order form for several packages, wines and champagnes we could have waiting onboard for our son and daughter-in-law. We already spoke with Regent who confirmed the package availability on the PG for $300.
FFMilesJunkie, thanks for the info. We will make sure that there is a note stating they are on their honeymoon.

We celebrated our 26th on the PG last week and were part of the ceremony.

There was no cost and all we paid later on was 12.95 for the picture. The cake, congratulations champagne and appetizers were delivered on the day. We didnt get the appetizers the whole week. They werent anything special anyway just some canapes that were being served at the lounges.

I agree with Miriam.

We celebrated our anniversary on the PG October 2nd and the ceremony was very nice (and free!)and you do receive a printed invitation. Just make sure the travel docs indicate they are on their honeymoon and it wouldn't hurt for them to stop by the concierge desk once they are onboard to remind them so that they do get the invite. The ceremony was for those celebrating an anniversary or their honeymoon and was conducted at sunset on the deck as we were sailing away from Bora Bora. They had champagne, cake, and wrapped each couple in a Tahitian quilt for a photo op ($12.95 for the pic). Earlier in the day we received in our suite a small anniversary cake and champagne. And there was always a small fresh flower arrangement in our room. I honestly don't know what you'd be paying $300 for. Everything is all-inclusive with 24-hour room service so they can order anything they would want delivered to their room (and better choices than just a few canapes). IMHO the $300 would be better spent on some nice excursions of which there are many to choose from.

My wife and I did the Honeymoon package on our PG cruise in 2005 in addition to the honeymoon/anniversary ceremony which is done one evening for everyone which is what most people who have responded seem to be describing.

Our private ceremony was up on the 9th deck with the captain, the CD, assistant CD, and a few of the Gaugines.

With the Gaugines playing a guitar in the background, a silhouetted Bora Bora standing out as the sun began to set, we had a simple ceremony with vows. Although completely by coincidence, the scripture that was read was actually the blessing that we wanted the reverend at our wedding to read, but was somehow omitted. Kinda made is nice.

During the ceremony, you are drapped in the traditional Tahitian wedding blanket. After the cermemony there was a cake and champagne. We ate just a bite or two and had the cake delivered to our table to share with our tablemates in the dining room later.

I think also included was caviar and Cliqout champagne on the night of our choosing and daily canape's. I'm not sure how much of a perk that really was.

But for us, hey it sounds corny I know, the private ceremony was something awfully special. We were also able to take advantage of the ship's photographer who shot several portraits of us with Bora Bora in the background (We were in Taha'a). The captain was so generous. Spent the time afterwards to point out to Tracey the Southern Cross that we had been looking for since we got to Papeete.

Is $300 worth the champagne, caviar, and canapes? No. Was it worth the private, intimate ceremony to reinforce the vows that we had taken in the most romantic location on the face of the earth? For us, absolutely.

For what it's worth.

Thanks so much Jan, we were offered that package and couldn't understand the difference between it and what was being described here onboard, was chalking it up to senior moments! Now I know I'm not really losing it! (yet) :) And I totally agree that the experience can be priceless. Again, thanks for taking the time to clear it up for us. Now we understand how to give our son and his wife a wonderfully unique moment on their honeymoon cruise.
