We will be overnighting in LAX enroute to Tahiti.
Can anyone suggest a restaurant for dinner that is not too far away.
I remember the Radisson where Regent tends to book is pretty sterile.
I prefered it when they put us up at the Hilton.

Emdee,

You can go to several areas - Marina Del Rey, Manhattan Beach. What do you consider far and what kind of food would you want to eat? Also price range? Do you want a quick eating experience or do you want to dine?

There's lots of choices in Marina Del Ray that are about a 10-15 minute taxi ride....The Charthouse and Cheesecake Factory are both great.

Thanks, to both of you.
I shall surf Marina del Rey and see what is a possibility.

I also do not know what are arrival time is going to be and depending on that we will have to decide to dine or eat!

If you want to dine you could also try Cafe Del Rey, which we like. If your flight is early, you could also head to Santa Monica and the Third Street Promenade/Pier area. There are street performers and a big variety of places to eat. We frequently go to that area for an evening's entertainment and dining.

The Area around LAX is not a great one and I don't recommend walking around there - especially after dark.

Chart House is a steakhouse chain and has declined in quality as well as being over priced..JoAnna, many, many locals go to the Pier and Promenade - it's a historical place to visit in LA and frequented by many locals - not just tourists. There are over 40 restaurants in a short distance - some of Los Angeles more popular places. Third Street is a pedestrian mall three blocks for the beach with unique stores and a great ambience. If you are from Out of Town or local - it's a great place to go. No one I've ever taken there has been disappointed. It's 12 miles from LAX and a straight line down Lincoln Blvd. I grew up in the area and know it very well.

Some of LA's Best restaurants are in the area - here is a link to the website:

I ate at Charthouse in Nov 2004 it was excellent- very possible it has declined - I am well aware it is steakhouse chain - have been to Third St so many times maybe I am burned out on it's charm - the very sad homeless people in that area are depressing to me - Joanna

Have to go with ChatKat on this one...Cafe del Rey is excellent, and there are places in Manhattan Beach that are also top rate: Cafe Pierre (French Bistro) and Mishi (Asian fusion) are both great, and Manhattan is a charming town to windowshop eithe before or after you dine.

Bon Apetit!
Jackie

We ate at the Marina Del Rey Charthouse several times during this past year (once with Ngaire & Ken at oceanview table) and it was excellent. I sure hope it isn't going downhill.

For people coming into LA who want a dining experience, there are much better overall experiences than the Chart House. They've closed several locations and they aren't what they used to be. They were great in the 70's when they were abundant and new, just out of Hawaii, and even until a few years ago. they are moving over from being a meat and potatoes place with a salad bar into a Fish restaurant, and there are much better places for fish.

Ocean Avenue Seafood is one that is one of our favorites and not far from the airport.
