Someone called me today and said there used to be a shuttle from LAX airport to the Ship pier. Do any of you LAX residents know if this still exists??

Yes, Ngaire there is a shuttle from LAX to the Pier in San Pedro. There is Super Shuttle (www.supershuttle.com) and Prime Time Shuttle (www.primetimeshuttle.com). Prime Time Shuttle is more reasonable at $15 per person. Please note in checking the on-line fare quote you need to enter under cities Harbor - LA Cruise Ship Terminal. Hope that helps and thanks for having such a great chat room.

Ngaire, I know that you always come in the day of the cruise. You'd better not miss the ship for the MINT cruise, or you will have a lot of dissapointed clients! As usual, I am getting there the night before, and Todd is suggesting hotels at the port, not the airport so I know I will be close for early boarding!

We are arriving on Southwest Airlines. Does the shuttle stop at all airlines?

yes.. but not all go to the pier .. so best to make a reservation in advance or when you land..there is a direct phone to them in the baggage claim areas..
then you walk out to the curb and the right one will get you!

Also Xpress Shuttle www.xpressshuttle.com makes this trip. The cost is $44.00 one way and $10. for each additional passenger or pre-pay $61.40 round trip for 1 person/$79.60 for 2/$97.80 for 3 etc.
Their phone number is 1-800-I ARRIVE (1-800-427-7483)

Each person is allowed 2 Large suitcases and 1 carry-on. (although we had more and weren't charged extra...nice driver!)

I'm not a great lover of shuttles because sometimes you get stuck picking up and delivering passengers to their homes which can be time consuming and an inconvenience. The shuttles to/from LAX to the harbor....chances are very good that you may be the only ones in the shuttle.

I can also post the name of the private car service I use if anyone wants to go that route.

Oh there is something nice about getting off a plane in a strange city and there is a driver with your name on a board waiting for you....

Robert,
That would be great...we are planning on the Mariner Canal Cruise on November 19th and it leaves from Los Angeles...

I do not think that my husband would appreciate going by bus..

Yes, Todd, very comforting, indeed...

Ronnie - the limo company I use is BLS. I have only used them in LA and NYC - don't know if they have setups in other major metro destinations. Number is 800-843-5752. They will fax you an application form which you fill out and fax back along with a copy (front/back) of a credit card. You will be assigned an account number and you are in business.

I've used BLS for years as has my corporate travel agency. They are very good. Be sure to ask if they have a flat rate from point A to point B. I'm about 26 miles from LAX (right Todd??) and the going rate is $70.00 + tip. But I may be getting a corporate rate or something. Worth every penny either way.

A bus is the worst. I'm not even a fan of the Supershuttle and other type of vans.

If you buy air through RSSC, I know they provide transfers. Would those transfers be by private car or by bus/mass transportation?

Thanks Andi! It was taken recently in Tokyo at the Le Meridien Grand Pacific Tokyo Bay Hotel. Beautiful hotel, great location.

What does the "Mint Cruise" stand for?
I must have missed it somewhere and I feel like I am left out of the loop even if I am not going on it.

Lawrence,
Actually as we live in Atlanta the air is rather cheap for us to purchase seperately as compared to taking the Radisson air though I will price it with the cost of the car service but air from ATL to LAX is less than $100 (actually a sale right now for $88 though only until May) and from FLL to ATL I can get it for $75 or less...that is a total of $175 plus the cost of the transfers...the Southeast air RT from Radisson is $499 or a saving of $324 per person...actually a hugh savings...on top of it I am from Miami so might actually spend a day or 2 there after the cruise...

Mariner November 12th. MNT actually, then I just added an I for phonetics....

It's not the color or the flavor either, it's referring to the boat load of cash you can save on this 2 for 1 deal out of Los Angeles (you'll save a mint!).
