I am spending the day sitting at home waiting for the Fed EX guy to bring my cruise documents. I’m trying to do some packing and list making for our pre-cruise segment of the world cruise.
I started doing my “port research” and have figured out that while I thought I was going to have 80+ degree days there may be 5 days out of 17 where the daily high may be in the 60’s or 70’s. That would be Key West, Cabo San Lucas, San Diego, and two sea days. I was mentally prepared for embarkation and disembarkation to be cooler (Fort Lauderdale and LA) and figured I’d wear jeans coming and going.
Day wear for those cooler days is easy. I’ll pack some summer slacks and a light jacket. Maybe even pack a pair of extra jeans for the 2 US ports. But my evening wear is all geared toward warm weather. The night temperatures are most likely even lower than the daily highs – say in the 50’s. My formal wear is a long skirt or long pants with an optional jacket for the dining room. So no problem there, but my semi formal and casual wear was intended to be summery dresses or skirts. I may freeze in that stuff.
Help I need some ideas on how to repack my evening wear. I guess I could start with casual black pants. So I need a few ideas for less formal wear that is good for cooler weather. Can you tell I don’t get out much?
Thanks, all.

Colleen, I think you're fine. Throw in some type of shawl, jacket or sweater just for your own comfort and you're fine. On MINT many of the ladies had sleeveless summery dresses/outfits etc. and no one looked out of place. For the sea days you can always throw in a sweatshirt to wear with your jeans if it gets too breezy on deck. The more I cruise, the less emphasis I put on clothes that "look good" and the more importance comfort becomes! On our 109 days, I'm fully prepared to have many of my most "comfy clothes" that I live in when home!
Please keep us all posted when your docs arrive so we can all dance with you!

Believe it or not, Marcie, I wasn't worried if I'd look out of place. I am more worried that I will freeze in summery stuff. I am the type of person who wears ear muffs below 70 degrees...at least while I bicycle. But your post has reassured me a bit. So, I freeze. I'll be comfortable and having fun.
See my new thread!!! Doc Dance.

Colleen, I threw in a pashmina shawl (got it at overstock.com), in case it got chilly. I never needed it, but I felt better knowing I had it, and it certainly didn't take up any space.

Colleen - good advice above! My cruising wardrobe is 80% Chicos - mainly lightweight pants and skirts that I top with a tank top and jacket...or silk shirt. Love the Pashmina idea. But if all else fails, I find that drinking more wine at dinner helps keep your body temperature up! (Or maybe you just don't notice as much!)
