DETAILS FROM REGENT ON SHORE EXCURSIONS. As of Wednesday November 4, 2009, descriptions and pricing for all shore excursions for the 2010 Europe and Alaska programs will be available for viewing online. You and your clients can now appreciate the value of our Free Unlimited Shore Excursion program earlier than ever, and each of the tour descriptions now also feature the true savings of the program by showing the "Retail Value" of each tour. For example, the Panoramic Rome tour that has a Retail Value of $149 is now FREE, and the Four Glacier & Dogsled Adventure in Juneau that has a Retail Value of $699 is now priced at $399 as a Regent Choice tour. Effective immediately, shore excursions will be available for booking 180 days prior to sailing date. At midnight Eastern Standard Time on the 180th day prior to the ship's departure, a "Book Excursions" link will automatically appear on your client's Booked Cruises in the My Account area of www.RSSC.com, and at that time the tours can be reserved. Please remember that a credit card is necessary to purchase those Regent Choice excursions for which there is a charge. Shore excursion reservations can be made online up until 7 days prior to sailing. And as a reminder, dining reservations for the specialty restaurants are available at 30 days prior to sailing, when the "Dining Reservations" link automatically appears in My Account at midnight Eastern Standard Time on the 30th day prior to the ship's departure. Dining reservations are also available online up until 7 days prior to sailing.

We are on the 5nt Navigator cruise in April and I have the "book excursions" link, but when I click on each port it does not list any excursions...I get a message that you need to wait until you are under 180 days (we are at 159). I guess I will call Regent.

I believe Ngaire's post says this only applies to Alaska and Europe.

Read the third paragraph starting with "Effective immediately, shore excursions will be available for booking 180 days prior to sailing date...".
I think the Europe and Alaska cruises are the ones that pertain to the 11/4/09 date as those cruises are well past 180 days til sailing.

Our cruise and the March 19, 2010 cruise appear to be the only Caribbean cruises in Winter 2010 that don't have excursions available yet. Both cruises visit Key West, either during or just after Spring Break. My guess is that because of Spring Break in Key West, Regent is either having difficulty scheduling excursions or is attempting to substitute another port for Key West. Time will tell.

Dave per Jeff at Regent I was told the 180 days only applies to Alaska or Europe...Caribbean cruises are still at the 120 days or less to pick shore excursions. I guess I misinterpreted the content of the information...yet how can "Nana" on the April sailing of Navigator in the E. Caribbean have access to hers?

Sue,
With all due respect to Jeff, I think he is misinformed. When I check our cruise for excursions, the web site says, in several places, that excursions are generally available 180 days prior to the cruise. If it was 120 days, then Nana's cruise, which is after ours, would not have any excursions available.
So, I'm sticking with my Key West/Spring Break theory. Perhaps Susan W. or Ngaire can get us accurate information from their sources within Regent.

When I tried excusions today for our Mar 22 Mariner cruise it says excursions should be available 180 days ahead but when I try for a port it says that these are not yet available!
I will keep trying!

Keep trying as I was able to book ALL my excursions for my April 7th Europe trip. The only one I couldnt see to access was Dubrovnik and I gave them a call and booked these on the phone. All the paid ones I did on the internet. I am now all done until August - Alaska.

We're also on the Mariner TA to Monte Carlo. The excursions are all there now with the exception of Funchal. I'll keep checking for that one.

Aloha Mahalo,Maggie Yes, we were able to book except for Funchal.Well keep looking at the web site and here to see when they they are all available.
Look forward to meet both you and Graham. This may become a LCT group without Ngaire / Linda or the rest of the great gang from B&K ! We will just have to have a toast without them.

Hope someone can answer my question. Can I wait to book a non-complimentary excursion onboard and use my ship's OBC to cover the price? Thanks for your help. Joanne

Joanne,
You can book excursions, both complimentary and non-complimentary, once on the ship. The danger is that a particular excursion may be sold out. Most of the reports this year were that most passengers got the excursions they wanted whether they booked precruise or on the ship. Some people reported that they booked online and then canceled and rebooked on the ship. This resulted in a refund of the amount paid for their online booking. The cost of the excursion was placed on their shipboard account so that shipboard credits could be used to pay it.

Thanks Dave,
But, I seem to be confused. I already have $600 SBC. If I book an excursion now, it's charged to my Credit Card. If I then cancel and rebook onboard, will the $69 price that was charged to the CC then be credited to my SBC? I want to use the $600 I have already. Not accrue more SBC. Am I missing something? Thanks again, J

J,
My understanding is that they will either give you cash or a credit to your credit card account for the canceled booking.

Ngaire, Thank you so much for this information. Looks like I can book a tour and pay with CC and then cancel onboard and rebook using SBC and the price will be available as cash or refundable SBC. Right?
Now, does anyone know if there will be an excursion to Tracy Arm on the May 26th cruise? None listed and just wondering if it may be added later.
Thanks, Joanne

That is not the intent of program. If everyone did that it would a madhouse of changes for the tour desk. If you cancel they may be required to fill up any waitlists first as you are releasing the space. So it may not be a simple as that sounds.
Tracy Arm is never known because of ice conditions. On the 26th my feeling is it may be too early but until the times comes you just do not know.

We waited until we got on the ship to book shore excursions that have a fee and had no problem getting the excursions we wanted. The fee was charged to our onboard account. As a backup, we did book one of the complementary excursions for those ports online when they became available. When we got the tickets for the fee based excursions, we just canceled the complementary ones.

Peggy, Thank you for your input. There was one tour I was interested in, but now will just wait to book once on board. Ngaire, I didn't realize Tracy Arm tours would be dependent on ice conditions. After reading some more various posts, makes sense, esp. the May date.
Thank you all, Joanne

When we did our Alaska cruise, it was last week of May. We were the very first to be able to go into Tracy Arm Fjord that year. The skipper of the boat told us we would not have been able to a week earlier. There were still huge chunks of ice floating around.
