My final Voyager post.

The ship.
Things are running well on the Voyager. The food has been really good and I enjoyed my dinner in Signatures more than I have in the past. The food was great the new lobster salad is outstanding, the lobster bisque as good as ever and the steak was great. Of course the company was great too we ate with Leslie, Brad, Denise and Allan. Today at lunch they had lobsters on the barbeque and they were truly outstanding. Normally barbeque lobster is a little dry but this was tasty and succulent. I have never seen full lobster tails served at lunch. They are small and from Canada.
I dont like Latitudes so I did not eat there. Most who did liked it, some raved but no one had a negative comment.

The service was excellent as well with many long time crew on board that were from the Diamond and even some that came from the Song of Flower. Of course having such great senior staff was also excellent, with Captain Dag, Dining Room manager Patrick, Hotel Director, Andreas and Food and Beverage Manager, Steph (Marcie’s Sambuca supplier).

I went to the back on the night we had the roughest seas. I honestly did not feel any vibration and I have in the past. I dont think the ship has been in dry dock since I last felt it so either the waves were not hitting the ship right or she was going slow but there truly was NO vibration at the back on that particular night.

We had tremendous rain in Helsinki and it was also cold and windy. Since Ken and I have already been to Helsinki we elected to stay on board and make it a “sea day”. The weather cleared up for Visby and was quite hot. I have to admit that we were lazy again, slept in and had another sea day. It is so nice being on the ship when it was quiet and we had good internet access as were one of only a few on board on the internet.

The last day in Copenhagen, Denise, Alan, Leslie, Brad, Ken and I made arrangements a the last minute before leaving for the cruise to rent a van and go outside Copenhagen to visit Kronborg and Frederiksborg castles. We had a nice day and then we dropped off at Nyhavn and walked down the Stroget and back to the Marriott. We had our “final supper” together, did the big hug thing and hope it wont be too long before we meet again. Of course we will see Leslie and Brad in Cape Town as ROAR is getting closer an closer.

All in all it was a wonderful trip. The highlights being the two perfect weather days in St. Petersburg, seeing old friends, meeting Leslie and Brad and Ginny and Jim and getting to see some of the ship staff that we always enjoy so much. I have really come to realize that so much of the enjoyment of the trips is the people with whom you share the experiences of the cruise.

Any word on why the Voyager December 2006 cruises were pulled from the schedule?

Thanks for posting, Ngaire. All the posts from this cruise brought back great memories of my very first cruise (and also very first Radisson cruise).

Marc, I seldom find much new information out on a ship. No one knows about new ship possibilities.

I imagine they are changing something on those Christmas and New Years cruises for 2006 and have pulled them until they make those decisions. That can happen from time to time. May also be to do with the 2007 World Cruise and when they want to start that.

I also think that some time in Dec 2006 the Voyager is due for a dry dock . . . .after the 11th and before the holiday cruise

Ngaire, The lobster sounds devine. I bet the grilled lobster at lunch was a nice treat. Sorry about the rain in Helsinki, but a self-inflicted sea day is a wonderful thing after those busy St. Petersburg days. The rest and relaxation was welcomed, I'm sure. Thanks for keeping us up on your wonderful cruise. Can't wait to hear more.

We, too, had BBQ lobster tails last June on Voyager - what a feast and they were delicious!

Welcome home, Ngaire. Glad you had a wonderful cruise--but they're all wonderful. I agree with you though, having great people to share a trip with, makes it just that much better. With that in mind, ROAR should be incredible. Are you home for a little while now, at least until Singapore?

Your trip sounded wonderful, but glad you are home. How many days until 007? Moss will never grow under your feet.

Thanks to all of you for posting. The whole trip sounds fabulous. I just heard from my aunt (the one who's only 5 years older than I am). They were on the sailing before yours, disembarked as you embarked, did the reverse itinerary. She said the weather was terrific the whole time. Oh well. You and the world track and field meet got rain (ok, wind, torrential rain, chilly weather) in Helsinki. Anyhow, they were raving about the museums, the ice cream in Copenhagen (really?), the ship, the crew, etc., etc. They did travel with friends, which can make things nicer, depending. Anyhow, thanks again for making sure this itin is on my list!

HI Miss Betty -- I am not on 007 and that is killing me as the group is so great on this trip. I had already planned the October 24 - Singapore to Sydney so have to stay with that trip. Cannot be in two places at the same time unfortunately. Wish these two trips were not at the exact same time.

I am looking forward to Singapore to Sydney though as there are new ports in that itinerary for me and it is always fun to go and see new things.

I should have rememberedd that, since I considered that cruise at one time after the Diamond bail out. Just a tad steep for me. Will you get to see your family?

We arrived about an hour and a half ago at London/Heathrow. Fortunate enough to have found a computer in the United Lounge.

Hard to believe our vacation is now coming to an end. So many wonderful experiences. Amsterdam was terrific, thanks to our guide, Ab, and just wandering on our own. We did extensive walking through all the nooks and crannies of the city. We spent Mon. in the Rjyks (sp?) and Van Gogh Museums and Anne Frank House. Fantastic museums. Visiting Anne Frank's House was very emotional and stirring. Something we will never forget. We went to Delft and Haarlem yesterday - two cities quite different from Amsterdam.

The Amstel InterCon is probably the most posh and beautiful hotel we've ever stayed at. Customer service and luxury personified. Tried Indonesian cuisine (twice) and loved it. Hopefully, we can find this in LA.

We get into LA at about 2:05 PM. Hopefully, the flight is very uneventful. Alan and I are on so many time zones! Don't know which end is up any more!

Will touch base with all when we return. Please forgive if this doesn't make much sense - We are two tired puppies!
