I posted this on the "more popular" cruise board. As noted in my posting, this is a heads up: having more than the usual # of kids onboard may be good or bad for you: for us, it would be bad.

"The title of the tread is a headline from today's CC "bargains" section. Apparently kids under 11 sail "for free" (other than taxes of about $30 per day) on four sailings: 12/19 and 28 on the Navigator, and 12/17 and 27 on the Mariner. These are 9 to 14 day cruises.

"For those of you who want to sail with your kids, here's an opportunity. For those of you who want to avoid kids, this is a warning. LOL. Last year there were complaints about having too many kids, so this is meant as a heads up.

"We're empty nesters who are happy to sail without kids, so we avoid holiday and short summer cruises."

While we always anticipate & fully accept that there will be more children & teens on holiday/ school vacation cruises, we are worried that this offer will bring a bevy of children... something we did not anticipate on Voyager's 12/27 cruise. In fact, since the cruise
goes through 1/9, we had rather thought the
oppostive would apply. Ouch! It's difficult to
imagine how the ship will handle them as I don't recall many facilites for this age group.

Paula - unless I'm reading Joan and Joe's posting wrong, it didn't mention anything about the Voyager sailings - only the Navigator and the Mariner.

Oops....you're correct Masaki. On another
board a pax posted re: taking her children
on the Voyager 12/27 cruise. These children
were well traveled and sounded lovely....
hardly the influx that anyone would need to fear. Incidentally, we often cruised w. our
kids, but on lines that had programs for them. Sitmar was in existence at that time & was wonderful in this regard...

Paula, I'd check with your TA to see if the information is correct, since it could have been inaccurate and/or I could have gotten it wrong. You're probably OK, but why not know for sure?
