We went on the Baltics cruise last year. RSSC does not require vaccinations for this itinerary.

We did take precautions in St. Petersburg/Moscow as far as eating off ship. We dined off ship once during our three day stay in St. Petersburg, during our day excursion to Moscow, at the Cafe Pushkin. We were extremely selective in what we ate, choosing only very hot, well-cooked foods. We didn't consume salads or tap water. On previous sailings, many people reported becoming very ill after eating in restaurants in St. Petersburg and Moscow - Beth and Judy can address this, as it happened to both of them.

It is my understanding that diptheria is still endemic, and that one should be up to date in the relevent vaccination.

We had a concern about the need for a Diptheria vaccination and asked Ngaire if she was ever vaccinated prior to going to the Baltics. She said it was a personal choice; however, she has never been vaccinated prior to any of her Baltics cruises. We have many friends who have cruised to the Baltics. All of them chose to not be vaccinated.

RSSC didn't require it and we chose to not do it.

In 93 I had to have Diptheria to get off the ship. Today it does not look like it is required, BUT that may change before your cruise.

IMHO if you eat out you should get Hep A. And the Diptheria/Tet shot is also a good idea.

LOL I have a up todate Yellow Card I am ready <img border="0" alt="[vhappy]" title="" src="graemlins/icon_vhappy.gif" />
