Has anyone taken this dinner and concert excursion in Leningrad? GRAND IMPERIAL EVENING OF THE TSARS Tour Code: LED-008 Duration: 5 hours Price: $149.00 per person
Relive the splendor of the 18th-century Imperial Russian court with an evening at the opulent Catherine Palace, where you will enjoy live performances and an authentic, gourmet Russian dinner. Royal Guards will greet you upon arriving at the palace, which was originally designed in 1752 by Italian architect Bartolomeo Rastrelli. As you admire the lavish rooms and galleries, classical musicians will perform for your pleasure. It's a wonderful social event as you mingle with your fellow guests during the private champagne reception in the palace's Great Hall or Throne Hall. You will then descend the Grand Staircase to the courtyard, where the pageantry continues. The Imperial Guard will parade about, as a carriage arrives with a courtly couple that will perform a traditional dance. In time, you will depart for dinner at the Russian House Restaurant, an authentic Russian country house fronted by an elegant classical façade. As you dine on exquisite Russian cuisine, a Russian folkloric group will perform, the perfect finale to this magical evening. It is $149 per person on top of free excursions; it was probably more previously. Don't want to schedule if it isn't a memorable experience. Also, if you remember what was served, that would be great. thanks,

Haven't done this excursion but how could you ever go wrong at Catherine's Palace! I would be the first person in line to sign up for this one.

We did this tour when we were on the Seabourn Pride a few years ago. It was one of the best evenings we had, and it gives you a chance to see Catherine’s Palace when it is not crowded with thousands of people. We had seen Catherine’s Palace in the day on a previous trip (on Voyager) and it was so mobbed I almost lost our group in the crowds. This tour is well worth the price. I would do it again. Enjoy!

Marc,
We are doing the Evening of the Tsars also. It sounds wonderful. It will be a long day with 2 other excursions, but I can rest later.
After sightseeing all day an event with dinner and entertainment along with a less crowded time at Catherine's Palace sounded great to us.
Looking forward to meeting you on C2C.

Eugene, thanks. Menu looks fine. It would be kind of neat to eat Chicken Kiev while in Russia. Of course, I will try the borscht.

"Has anyone taken this dinner and concert excursion in Leningrad?"
Marc, old comrade, St. Petersburg has not been called Leningrad since 1991. That year the people of the city voted to change the name back to the pre-Soviet name. When I was in Russian school in the Army (U.S. Army, not Soviet Army), our professors (all of whom were Russians who left Russia after the Revolution) had a favorite joke: 1. Where were you born? -St. Petersburg. 2. Where did you grow up? -Petrograd. 3. Where do you live now? -Leningrad. 4. Where would you like to live? -St. Petersburg.
The private party at Catherine's Palace sounds fantastic. That place is usually so crowded that it would be well worth the price of the tour just to have the private time at the Palace, even if no dinner at all took place. The Amber Room is astonishing, particularly when you remember that the whole room was recreated from old photos.
Cheers, Fred

That looks absolutely perfect! Like our private excursion to Tower of London to see the Crown Jewels.

Consider yourselves lucky to get that evening of the Tsars for $149. We will be in St. Petersburg on May 28 on the Oceania Regatta and Oceania's tour price for that very same evening is $299 per person. We have booked it so sure hope it is worth it. We have done several Regent cruises and absolutely love them. However, the increase in prices has just about knocked us out of Regent.....yet I still keep looking and dreaming. Hope my Oceania cruise is just as enjoyable....will give it a try on the Rome to Stockholm cruise.

The private time at Catherine's Palace sounds great. Not so sure about the tourist restaurant. Has anybody done the AN EVENING OF RUSSIAN BALLET tour?
