It's been a while - but I remember a website you could check to see how full your sailing was. Has that gone away? I know there are some cruise websites that will show you at least some of the available cabins. But I can't remember any of them. Anyone know what I'm referring to?

Bobbi, it went away for RSSC cruises. It still works for the big cruise lines. If that's what you want it for, let me know and I will look for the site.

actually Karen - I have two cruises booked for next year - one on RSSC and one on RCCL (we're taking my mom and dad - for his 85th bday - out of Baltimore - no airfare! If it's not too much trouble, that would be great. Thanks!

Bobbi, You can check on the RCCL website, act as if you are booking a cruise and when you get to the cabin choice part, click the "edit" button and it tells you what cabins are available.

RCCL website

And this site also shows availability:

cabin availability

I know we've talked about this before, and when I filled out their on line survey long ago I said it would be good to have that information on line. Since the information is available, does anyone know why they don't make it accessible? Surely that would save their reps time in the long run.

If they easily published the information, we would all wait on sales on empty cruises. They need to maintain the impression that all cruises are selling and you need to buy in a hurry.

As for the systems that do show availability, it is only part of the answer. A large TA could be holding group space which doesn't show on inventory.

Yes, Marc is right. There is no reason that a cruise line would want to make the information public. I get asked this almost very day - how full is the ship?. You dont know the answer to that question until you board. If you ask the reps guess and say about 66% full. Only a REALLY empty ship (super special) or a REALLY full ship (full price no discount and waitlists) will become obvious anything in between remains a mystery even to me.
