They were a good thing. On the 2010 WC they only published it once with just the "full" world cruisers. And we were told that it would be the last such booklet.
When we were on Seabourn Spirit for just ONE WEEK in Sept. all passengers got one. I wish Regent would bring those back, everyone loves them. As for privacy, you could opt out (not sure anyone did).
Guess it's something for us to put on our comment cards.
