Last nights Jimbo’s Truck Stop Diner (and our Ya Ya/Yo Yo tables) was a huge success! We arrived down on Deck 3 at 7:00 and were greeted by various staff dressed in the wildest, raunchy, red neck clothes and wigs. We were laughing so hard and immediately knew we were in for a great night! We were able to tour around and saw 2 of our favorite dancer’s cabin (Sean and Laura). Laura had jeans on with a padded butt, her hair in curlers and a scarf and a tattoo on her arm that said “R U My Daddy” The cabins are sooooooooo small compared to ours. There’s just enough room for a small closet, bunk beds, small desk and dresser. The bathroom is so tiny you can barely turn around in it. I have no idea how 2 people manage in there for months at a time.

Next we went into the crew bar…..What a fun place! There’s a black and white linoleum floor, a bar, sound system, small cocktail type tables and even a fooz ball game. Captain Dag and a couple other officers were the bartenders. Most people were drinking “Tiger Beer” (I opted for red wine). Many of us passengers had dressed up in “truck stop/50’s type clothing as well so it was quite a site! It’s like Deck 3 really had been transformed into a 50’s Diner Truck Stop. After socializing in the crew bar, we went into the mess hall for a buffet dinner. We had choices of meat loaf, spare ribs or turkey with sides of potatoes, veggies, salads etc. It was actually quite good! We had our fun Ya Ya table and we laughed, drank, told jokes and talked girl talk. (I don’t think the Yo Yo table had nearly as much fun as we did). After dinner quite a few of us went back into the crew bar for lots of fun dancing and more drinking. The music played through out the entire night was 50’s and 60’s which was perfect for most of our age group. We did line dancing, the stroll, the Twist, Shout, even the Hokey Pokey! We had so much fun. The staff, including the officers, all danced with us too.

Captain Dag and Patrick are excellent dancers and so much fun. Of all the cruises we’ve been on, the Officers on this cruise are the most “hands on” and “fun” of any I can remember. They sure seem to really enjoy the interaction with the passengers. Actually, the entire staff is just the BEST! (getting to know them so much better on long cruises makes a huge difference)Eventually Tom and my legs were feeling like rubber and we needed to call it a night. This entire evening was ONLY for the full world cruisers. The segment passengers were anxious to hear about our evening and I know there was a lot of disappointment that they weren’t able to join in the fun.

They have Jimbo’s Truck Stop again tonight since there are too many WC passengers for one night. Before the Ya Ya/ Yo Yo party was planned, we had planned to eat with Paul and Hans…luckily they’re going tonight with Marc and Harry. Marc doesn’t even come close to having anything 50’s to wear so I suggested he wear a Tuxedo, adorn himself in gems and borrow one of Tom’s baseball caps.

I’m guessing that Jamie was the one who put most of Jimbo’s Truck Stop together….and what a great job he did! It was definitely the talk of the ship. It was a nice treat for the staff too since most of them ate upstairs in La Veranda.

Today looks like it’s going to be another beautiful day and a good morning to eat breakfast on our balcony. At 1:00 the guys (and Joan too) have another Texas Hold ‘Em poker game planned. Maybe Tom will win a 2nd day….ya never know!

I took lots of photos last night but unfortunately with the lighting etc. very few came out, not even one of our Ya Ya table. I’ll post the ones that came out the best and you’ll just have to use your imagination a bit.

Looks like the Truck Stop Diner was a great evening. These theme parties must make sea days more interesting. You get to plan your costumes and gather clothing during the day. I bet the non-WCers are jealous of all your fun.

See, now there are FIVE dining venues (six if you count room service) on the Voyager!!!. What a great idea for fun. Looks like everyone was having a good time. I bet that was a welcome change of pace and the theme was ingenious.

Sure looks like a lot of fun!! You have sure had some fun dinners and brunches and all on this cruise. Obviously a lot of time is spent trying to come up with fun ideas.

Looks like you all had a blast! It does take a lot of imagination and creativity to come up with such interesting and fun ideas so often.

You guys are having way too much fun Marcie...

Gail, for anything Egyptian we were given the gowns by Radisson as a segment gift. Also, many of us bought another one, or head pieces,bangles,scarfs, etc. along the way....they were VERY CHEAP in Egypt. As for last night, it was more just thrown together...everyone has jeans on board and tee shirts so you just do things like roll the pant legs up, roll a pack of cigarettes in your shirt sleeve...anything 50ish. Some of the female passengers have purchased cheap wigs along the way just for fun nights like this too. You can throw things together pretty easily when you need to.

On my next long cruise I'll come more prepared for these theme nights!

What fun! I think Jamie is very creative with theme events for the passengers. When we did our 26 day South Pacific Cruise they even had a packing party at noon on the last sea day.

The atrium was strung with a clothes line and lots of garment hanging between decks.... there was an open bar and most of us were much happier drinking than packing.

I love all the fun things you've experienced on this cruise. The staff certainly goes to great lengths to show World Cruisers a good time. Thanks for sharing and also the fun pics.

Marcie, you are still sounding like it was the first week of your 'round the world cruise! How you keep up your humour and enthusiasm I will never know! We have all enjoyed our "armchair" cruise around the world, and I for one can't wait to welcome you back at the brunch on May 1!

Listening to these ideas is giving me ideas for themes for a dance group we belong to. Truck stop? hum! That would work.

You guys might get a kick out of this....Remember I told you about the afternoon Texas Hold 'Em poker games and posted a photo of what Tom wore day before yesterday when he won. Well yesterday my friend Joan (the only female player) won so today she showed up for the game wearing the cutest tee shirt and Elton John glasses! Today Tom won again but didn't she look so cute (her hand is hiding the "B" on her shirt)!! The 9 guys all got a big kick out of it!

Marcie, you guys looked like you were having a blast on 50s night. And I love Joan's outfit!
