Hi,

Do we need to bring wet boots as SS recommends on this ship for wet landings or are there enough in boot room? Thank you

In the past I would have said "don't worry" plenty of boots. But I do not say that now.

I found out there are only about 80 pairs of boots on the Silver Cloud and 200 guests - you do the math! They used to use boots that people left behind but for some reason now they even say "you cannot leave boots behind" and that is probably why their supply is not what it used to be. Must have been an issue to change the policies that is usually the reason.

It also depend on what ship and where you are going. On the UK itinerary we did not need boots. Cannot survive without them in Antarctica or the Arctic.

This is very helpful. We are going from Lima to Buenos Aires on the Cloud. I’m not sure how many wet landings we will have. It’s a 25 day Chilean fjord and Patagonia trip

I highly doubt you will have any wet landings on that itinerary. Even on the British Isles/Ireland/Scotland trip we landed on tiny islands with very small populations that seldom see cruise ships. The zodiacs can access small local docks so you do not need to wade through water to get to ashore. One stop on the puffin island we had to step off onto rocks but no water issues. I would not suggest buying boots for this trip I think you will be fine. This is in an area where many cruise ships operate cannot imagine a wet landing. Most places would have small docks no problem for the zodiacs. It is Antarctica and remote areas of the Arctic where you need the rubber boots.

Thanks again. Good to hear. I didn’t want to take them.
