This morning WILD DOGS. We did the fast ride to the area and were third standby. We hit our time perfectly as they came out of the bush and were running down the road in a line as they normally do. They had killed as they had blood all around their necks. They are denning in the hills and now the puppies will have a nice breakfast.
The elephants are back at the waterhole again. This time a rare white elephant. Not really but all the rest are red from the red soil and one was light gray from rolling around in the soil with minerals. The contrast made him look more white.
I may stay in this afternoon and enjoy the waterhole for the day. The food has been outstanding and we have really enjoyed our time at Jamala.

Sitting at the Jamala waterhole. Wonderful lunch with the elephants.
Then came the elephant parade. Five separate groups of elephants came in one after another. There were so many elephants here well over a hundred individuals. So much activity difficult to know what to watch. The really young ones with wobbly trunks, the adolescents trumpeting and chasing the impala, the young males fighting or our “love in afternoon couplesâ€.
Then of course there is the destruction of the tree to be handled right at the deck. That was a pretty nice tree when we arrived with birds nests hanging down now only a small top branch left. This bought the elephants so close about three feet from the deck. All sizes including tiny ones so incredibly close.
Cannon Ken and Nikon Ken and Tim went out. The rest of us stayed to spend the afternoon with the elephants.
The guinea fowl have just arrived and the little elephants are chasing them around. The elephants arrived about 1.00 pm and it is now 5.00 pm and they are still here.
