I'm not currently in Houston (but my husband and cats are), and I know Betty lives close to the reservoir that's overflowing.
Has anyone heard from her recently or have her phone number? I'm worried

I have heard from her and she has been posting updates on facebook. So far, so good but I haven't talked to her today yet.

I've seen those FB posts. I'm just concerned because she's downstream from a dam that could fail (and is releasing much more water than ever before). If you could call her and make sure she's ok, I'd feel better

She was OK yesterday via her email. She still had power and no flooding, but very scared. Haven't heard anything today and unfortunately she doesn't have a cell phone. I sure hope we hear something soon.

I'm worried too. We play Words with Friends every day and I haven't heard from her today. Hope someone hears something soon!

I called Betty on her cell phone with no answer. I did leave a message that all of us were very concerned about her and asked that she call me back when she could. When I get a reply, I will let you all know.

David, Betty's son, just replied to my FB message. Betty is fine, still at home but without power. I'm sure we'll hear from her soon!

Thanks so much for posting this. I was really getting worried. So glad to hear that Betty is safe.

I just wrote a long reply that disappeared. It mainly thanked everyone and to let you know the heat finally did me in today. I didn't want to go Tuesday night when water was seven inches from my front door. Today I knew I had to go. Am staying with a niece in Waller Tx. So now to rest and regain some strength in her glorious air conditioning.

Irma looks bad. We called Tony Mondae this morning and he's going inland with friends Kathy and Jack for 2 nights (Sunday & Monday). I worry about Betty K. and so happy she and her family are also leaving Indialantic tomorrow for a few days to go inland. Betty & Tony both live right on the water. I hope Tom and Mona check in soon. We have dear WC friends who are all evacuated. Between Harvey & Irma and Jose close behind, I'm so concerned for everyone affected.

Thanks for the update, Marcie. I have been praying for everyone who has been affected and those who soon will be. Having lived in Florida during 2004 when we got inundated by hurricanes one after another, then another, and another...this is bringing back some scary memories. That was the first time in my life that the total control freak in me realized "I can't do anything to stop this!" That was stupid young me...I've learned a lot since then.

You are right Kristin, very scary memories indeed. On Our flight home we are supposed to change planes in Atlanta about the time Irma comes through, so waiting to find out how they rerouted us. But so worried about everyone. I hope they will post when they can. Tom was doing some free lance work the last few days I hope he got back home
to Mona.

I heard from Mitch and Bert they are fine.

I have emailed with Tom (and Mona) on Saturday, they were staying in their home, he said they were further inland than Tony and thought they would be ok. He was in Tallahasse earlier in the week doing some free lance TV stuff, but was back home by Saturday. Will check in with him again today. Betty K posted on FB that she was in Orlando at a hotel on Saturday I think it was.

Just saw a FB update from Betty K. She is fine, they made it thru and didn't lose power at the hotel she was at. There is still a curfew so they are waiting to head back home. She said that her area was hit pretty hard so not sure what she will find, but expects to have no power for sure. This was posted about an hour ago.

ok just talked to Tom and Mona. They are fine, no power, but no issues other than a few trees down and such in their development. They sounded good and like they were holding up fine. Tom has somehow rigged up a way to charge his phone in the car, so they have phone. I had emailed earlier today, and we were getting concerned, but I was actually surprised when he picked up the phone.....,and happy that he did.

It's so good to hear that everyone is safe! Now hoping that the water in Charleston recedes quickly. What a mess. John and Kimmi posted some amazing and frightening photos and videos on FB.
