I am curious to know if anyone else besides me would be interested in a Regent Seven Seas cruise that went from the west coast to Hawaii. Stopped at 3 to 4 islands and then returned.
Maybe about 14 to 16 day cruise?

Or if not that a 7 to 10 day cruise one way that stopped at a couple of islands before disembarking.

Hi Jim,

Me and my husband would love that kind of itinerary. My only issue would be that it would need to be in the summer as that is the only time we could take it. I guess that kind of itinerary they would only do in Fall or winter?

I know i'd love it, but about 11 days. You'll have to ask my other half what he thinks.

That would be great, but isn't there a requirement about one foreign port?

Isn't there some island in the area that satisfies this requirement?

Make that foreign port Sydney and count me in! Seriously, I'd love to do a cruise around Hawaii but would prefer it to be at least 14 days and not in weather that's too hot. I just wish Regent had more port calls on their current cruise back to the States as I like sea days, but not too many. The timing for me is all wrong at the moment too as the Mariner arrives at LA at Christmas. Lee

We'd love it. We would consider such a cruise in 2009, as 2008 is all ready in the planning stages.

Typically the other cruise lines do an itinerary like this during the winter months when Alaska is not an option - so probably would have to be the Mariner? Could be a nice change of pace from doing the usual Mexican Riviera itinerary for them. We'd obviously be interested - anything that involves less flying for us is always good :)

See that is what I thought.
I know Princess, Holland America, Crystal, have something like this. Princess on a regular schedule, but I just thought it would be a wonderful idea if Regent did one. Maybe every couple of years.
I think they would have to go to either Ensenada
or that island not far from Hawaii. (Does Fanning Island sound like the name?).
Think it would be about 4 days over and same coming back.
I have a couple of friends that have done this cruise (one Princess the other Holland America), and thought it was great.
What would it take to talk them into it?
We of course would prefer winter so we can get away from the cold country.

We'd love to do this. I agree with the others here, it would sure be nice not to have to fly somewhere first! I would love an LA to LA itinerary, but don't those tend to be almost 2 weeks long...? If that were the case, I doubt we could get away for that long.

We would love this. I think 14 days is perfect, as we would have to fly there and back. We were spoiled this year, the holiday cruise was round trip Fort Lauderdale and we were home in 15 minutes. We are booked on the Voyager Xmas-New Years next year through the canal from Fort Lauderdale to San Francisco....

Yes, Jim, Fanning Island is what I was thinking of. NCL uses them, I believe, or used to.

I think it's time to do away with the Jones act for cruise ships. I never really understood why it was enacted in the first place?

We cruised from L.A. to Hawaii , and then onto Tahiti, flying home from Tahiti.....with the old Sea Princess,( it was a wonderful cruise, but way before Regent.(1988) We went on the Navigator from San Francisco to Sydney a few years back, then in 2005 on the Voyager's first segment,of the world cruise to New Zealand, so where do we sign up for a Regent cruise round trip L.A. to L.A. Hawaii in-between. We would love it. Wish it was possible, sure don't want to embark in Ensanada...

Count me as interested also. I have been thinking of it in 2008, but if it had to be 09 that would be OK too.

This would definitely be a good idea, especially since RSSC has settled into a groove without much variation year-to-year (boy they need another hull!). While I lived in Hawaii for a total of 8 years courtesy of the Army (4 years for my wife), we didn't spend much time looking at the islands from offshore. The volcanoes at night from the sea are reportedly spectacular (or not...the darn things aren't dependable).

I always wanted to visit Fanning Island, too. ;)

I would love to do in 2008 but one way from LA not R/T. Would be nice to spend more time cruising around the islands vs. sailing back to LA. NCL does 11-13 day trips from LA but I don't think NCL is for me. Highlights would be cruising by the big island lava show at night and the Na Pali coast on Kauai during the day.

Many of us are doing ROAR2 in 2008 which puts a big crimp in the travel budgets, so something like this to look forward to in winter 09 would be great.

It would have to be longer than 14 days for a RT. The first leg of the '08 WC takes 5 days alone just to get from San Francisco to Hilo. We would love a 3 week RT like this.

A stop at Midway Island would be a wonderful addition to the itinerary. We stopped there in 2004 on the Voyager and it was one of the best ports ever.

Radisson (pre Regent days) did a 26 day round trip from west coast to Tahiti with return thru Hawaii - As far as I know they've only done it three times but the ships were full!

I'm sure if they shorted it to a exclusive Hawaii itinerary they would find a lot of interest and many new passengers who would get "hooked" on the Regent experience.

On one of our trips back to Hawaii we stopped at Fanning Island - on the other voyage, Christmas Island - they were both very interesting and definitely "off the beaten path"!

Hey were there! Sounds awesome! Maybe they could also break it into segments for those that don't have 14+ days. Great plan for 2009. We hope to do more Europe in 2008, either Baltics or something Greek Isles/Italy or something. And then of course there is South America, Australia/New Zeland, Asia of some sort, maybe a World segment or two - hope we live long enough to do it all!! :app: :D
