We are looking to use our AA miles for a trip next year. Most likely, our itinerary will be utilizing AA's partner, BA. When redeeming AA miles and flying partner BA, are the taxes and fees AA or BA?

Denise, I booked a one-way biz class BA flight to Nice for Grand Prix, using AA miles. I believe the taxes and fees that are so high are exclusive to BA, at least when you fly through London. For one way in biz class, the taxes were $333. My booking code for AA doesnt even open anymore. And you are not allowed to make seat selection without a surcharge until 24 hours prior to the flight.

Thanks, Olivia. I had suspected the taxes and fees to be based flying BA using AA miles, however, wasn't entirely certain, so I posed the question. You and a private email from Wes (thanks, Wes) have now confirmed it. We did experience the 24 hour seat selection on our trip to Provence a few years ago. We were out and about and had to stop into an internet cafe to snag our seats. A major inconvenience and PITA! We may need to do a mix of one way AA award seats and one way MP award seats for this trip.
We used MP for our Bus Class award seats with Lufthansa for this year's trip. An absolute "bargain" compared to BA fees!
Thanks, again, for your reply.

If you are plat on AA, you can book your seats when you make the reservation. Yes, BA taxes are crazy, but still better than paying for the whole ticket with cash.

We're AA Gold. Fortunately, we have enough miles in 2 programs to be creative, if need be. Thanks for your reply.
