Were you at the Lan Argentina site or the LAN site. I was never able to find a Lan Argentina site. It could be that the Lan Argentina flights have differant limits than LAN. The LAN site does say 17 lbs but LAN Argentina is a separate airline. I know it could be more confusing but not sure how.

LAN is the parent airline for LAN Chile, LAN Peru, and LAN Argentina. They are all part of Oneworld. LAN Argentina isn't a separate airline, it's one part of LAN so there isn't a separate website. Why they call them different things in different countries is a mystery and unnecessarily confusing.

I am thinking the various LAN by country are separate corporate entities. There may be regulatory reasons in each country for the separate corporate structures. The regional airlines in the US that are part or affiliated with the majors are separate corporate entities. Because of the separate corporate structure I can see that they may have unique baggage limitations. Confusing to us but may not be to someone in Argentina.
Does make life interesting.

LAN is an acronym for LÃnea Aérea Nacional, translated to National Airline. It began as LÃnea Aérea Nacional de Chile.
In 2004, a corporate image change took place and the company became LAN Airlines S.A. Brand uniformity allows our customer to better identify high service and safety standards provided by LAN Airlines, LAN Express, LAN Peru, LAN Ecuador and LAN Argentina, including LAN Cargo and its affiliates. In november 2010, LAN also acquired the Colombian airline, AIRES.

Well, almost all packed. Looks like everything will fit in terms of space and weight. (still not sure about the carry on weight issue.)
Does anyone know if we can get FF miles for the flight from BA to the ship & back? LAN is a ONE World partner AND it is a paid flight.
Unlike our trip to and from BA, which is all miles!

Doug, probably not, but save your boarding passes and send them in. I have done that with trips that included internal air and rarely received miles, but it is worth a try. Even better if you can get your ff numbers entered in before you fly.

I'll take my AA card just in case we can put the flight on our card pre-boarding.
Was at a dinner party on Monday and a couple had been in BA in November. As far as restaurants go, they said the food is reasonably priced. They had a nice lunch for two with wine for $18. Three course dinner with wine ran $40 pp. Tipping is minimal, about 10%.
On the safety issue, they felt very safe but suggested to get a cab after 10pm.

I'm a bit disappointed they haven't kept up on the blog entries. Was looking forward to knowing what was happening up until our trip. Luckily the lady on CC kept us up to date on her husbands' trip.
I'm in BA now. Just took a walk around the neighborhood. Saw the Park Hyatt just about a 5 min walk from the FS. Be prepared - it is HOT!!

Andrea, We will bring in the cooler weather on Wednesday. High of 84 but 60% chance of thunder storms. Thursday has high of 80 and sunny. At least one of our days in BA look good!
