Great photo, Doug, of the lion - that must have been a fantastic experience.

Jan, Helen and Linda here. I know we have been silent for several days, but we have been in sensory overload. The game has been fantastic...and I finally saw WILD DOGS!! The weather has been perfect for game drives and we have taken full advantage of it. We were the only guests at Tintswalo and the staff gave us the run of the place...it was fabulous. Leopard Hills continues to be one of my favorites.....I never want to leave. Our group has found much to laugh about...there seems to be a quirky encounters every day. Jan has become quite the little tracker....she was the first one to sight the lion family pride today....perhaps she will pursue a new career? Well, we certainly understand why everyone in the previous ROAR III groups raved about their trip.....thanks for getting us excited....the trip has definitely lived up to the hype! Well....we're off to our afternoon game drive. Check Jan's entry for more details on our adventures.

Wish I could help, Claudia, but have only been once and have nothing to compare. I loved Leopard Hills for what that's worth. -------------------- Helen

Personally, I love both of these properties. We've been to Singita, Lion Sands, Leopard Hills and Tintswalo. Lion Sands is gorgeous, food excellent, rangers wonderful. Leopard Hills is completely different physically. The rooms are nice but CURRENTLY in need of an upgrade (which they will be getting) but all else is equivalent to Lion Sands. I felt that Leopard Hills was cozier with incredible service levels. Lion Sands is more formal. Rooms are so nice, you don't want to leave. You will be happy with either choice. Prices about equivalent but if you are going to two properties and combine Leopard Hills with another Seasons property, Leopard Hills is less expensive. Why not do both Leopard Hills and Lion Sands!?! There are two lodges at Lion Sands...Ivory Lodge and River Lodge. River Lodge rooms are smaller than the outrageously large Ivory Lodge rooms but equivalent to Leopard Hills. They are beautifully decorated but food is buffet and everything is not inclusive. That being said, you will save about $1000 per day per couple over Ivory Lodge. Hope this helps. Of course, game is variable so you never know, but we had the best experience at our 1 time at Leopard Hills and we've been to SA three times on safari.
