I saw the discussion on airlines and thought I would share what I got for us. We are on the KLM flight out of Houston on April 12 at 4.30 pm into Amsterdam April 12 at 8am. We will spend that day the 12th, the 13th and 14th in Amsterdam. We plan on taking a day trip south to the tulip fields. We leave Amsterdam on Saturday morning at 10.20 am and get into Cape Town Satuday night at 9.55PM again on KLM. We are going to stay at Radisson for the three nights before Cape Grace check in. Our return is on KLM out of Joberg at 10PM on the 30th and into Houston at 1.40pm on May 1st. We used miles with Continental. 400,000 But I think the route and timing there and back are great. And every inch is business. First time in Amsterdam -- any hints on what to do or hotel to stay in?

We have been on 5 cruises with Ngaire and are so excited to be on this trip. This is my first time on the site; I checked it out after Ngaire suggested it. We cleared the waitlist for ROAR awhile ago. We were scheduled for October 05 and canceled because of air difficulty, but made the waitlist for ROAR so I guess it was meant to be. When I figure out how to do it I will post my past cruise dates. I think that is what all those dates are about.

Joe is a headhunter and I am a CPA. We have two grown sons and two grandsons. We play bridge, he is nuts about it. Goal is to earn enough masterpoints to work a cruise. We play golf, he is nuts about it. We are looking to play golf in CTown on Monday April 17 if anyone is interested and assuming we can rent sticks. I needlepoint, garden, read, and am nuts about the stockmarket and investments, it is my hobby and my work. My goal is to pay for trips. We will in Aspen 5 weeks this summer. The goal is to stay cool. Hope the weather is good.

We are both looking forward to the roar trip but I am the one with wonderlust in my soul. He thinks maybe we should just go to the zoo or one of the Texas wild game ranches. That is a joke, but he really said it! I have been the one to book, plan and push all of our trips and he goes along for the ride once I have it paid for. He is a patient sort as you will find out. Almost as nice as Ngaire's Ken.

Hi Judy!

Welcome to LCT and to this ever-so-slightly obsessed ROAR group! Suzie's sister is planning to play golf in CPT, too.

Wonderful Judy! Welcome! No one else has answered my plea for playing golf. Marilyn, my sister will be thrilled to hear the news. We arrive the 16th and check into Cape Grace so Monday sounds perfect! A great start to a fabulous trip.

So glad you posted Judy. Roarer's this is a lovely lady and Joe and Judy are wonderful people. We have known each other for probably 15 to 20 years. Lots of fun to travel with. We have traveled together a lot over the years, they were in my very first "group" cruise when I started selling Radisson. They had never cruised and Joe was not too sure about it. As Judy said "he went along". We went to Tahiti on the PG. He loved it. Now he really enjoys cruising. I am delighted they were able to come and you will all enjoy getting to know them.

Hi Judy! Thanks for introducing yourselves. We will look forward to meeting you on ROAR.

I'm also "gifted" (?) with endless wanderlust, the ability to come up with endless rationalizations to scratch that itch if I ferret out a wonderful deal or a unique opportunity (like ROAR) and CNBC's moving ticker is burned into my TV screens from overuse (also hobby and profession). Gary's a sports nut with tennis as his specialty. He is also a great traveling companion who would just as soon go to Florida and play tennis until he drops from heat exhaustion. He LOVED living in the Houston area when he first started with Exxon. He takes it as a personal challenge to keep the luggage to a 22" suitcase apiece with a small carry-on - must be the engineering training. No shoe wardrobes for either of us with that restriction.

Cheers, Anne

Hi Judy & fellow Houstonian

I am so glad you have joined LCT & am so jealous that you will be on the ROAR trip. I waitlisted myself for a while, but decided I just couldn't do it with all the other trips I have planned for 2006. my wish list is huge compared to my budget. I have met some of your fellow ROARers & you have have a wonderful time with them. Of course, having already met Ngaire, you know what a first class lady she is.
Looking forward to meeting you and Joe soon. Maybe we even live close to each other. My zip is 077.
Welcome again.

Welcome Judy! So many of your comments hit my funny bone - "CNBC, nuts about the stock market, and Texas wild game ranches or the zoo would do just fine," etc. etc. Sounds like my husband & me in many ways as well. My husband would be happy seeing the wild game on the ranch easily - no hassle with flights, etc., and I love investing and trying to buy that ranch! But ROAR is so much more appealing. Your Amsterdam itinerary sounds fun.
Also, we are in Houston often to visit my sister.
Betty, you've got more LCTer's near!

Welcome Joe and Judy from some fellow Texans (northern type). It sounds like my husband, Jerry, will be in hog heaven with all of you--he lives for CNBC and "investment management" -- he takes it very seriously. I just help spend the money and tend to be the travel nut in the family, but he enjoys coming along. He'd actually rather go to South Africa that South Texas to see the wildlife :) I just recently retired from 3M where I worked as a Healthcare coding and billing consultant. I traveled all over the U.S. for years and we're now enjoying the fruits of that by using up the frequent flyer miles. Looking forward to meeting you.

Thanks. We were trying to decide whether to break up the trip with a couple of days in Amsterdam going and coming instead of a pre-trip in Cape Town. It seems she is taking the same flight as Doug and I, but earlier.

We are finally booked! I have been so busy, we left our travel plans to the last minute. We are traveling from Newark on Continental on the 14th to Amsterdam and then on KLM on the 17th arriving on the 17th in the evening in Capetown.

We are doing the post cruise and leaving Johanasburg on May 1 on KLM through Amsterdam and on to New York. It's definitely a go!! No turning back now.
