emailed rssc and got a reply there are 3 FORMAL nights on this cruise. Way too many in such a hot climate. Who decides these things? They need to get with the program that with baggage restrictions and just a different world that most people don't want to drag esp a tux half way around the world for 1 segment. Won't stop us from going but not happy about it. Know we can eat in our room and might have considered that if it had been 1 or even 2 nights but 3 in 2 weeks!!

I think they almost always do three formal nights on 14/15 day cruises. All my "formal" stuff is actually lighter than most of my other clothes. Jerry brings a tux and a dinner jacket plus a suit and has no problem staying under 50 lb in his garment bag-- we kind of like the formal nights.

Yes, always have been 3 formal nights on 14/15 night cruises. Nothing different here.

We did the DRAGON itinerary in 2005 with just a carryon bag. :D

All luggage for the four of us lost en route so we had three days in Hong Kong and seven days onboard before luggage caught up in Saigon. Ship's tailor fitted my father and I for tuxes and long skirts for Arlene and my mother.

I like CCC and informal but don't mind taking the tux. I have three cumberbund/tie sets so I usually bring all three for variety. We have never had problems with weight.

I'm with you Marc, formal clothes have never impacted the weight of our luggage. It's all that other stuff I insist on taking. You know those beauty creams and anti-wrinkle serums weigh a lot :D .

This is from Ngaire's website. Could find nothing on Regent's, strangely.

How many formal, informal and casual nights will there be on my cruise?
If a cruise is not termed "Country Club Casual" then you can count on a mixture of formal, informal and casual nights. Although cruises can vary slightly depending on ports of call and areas of the world the following is usually accurate
7 night cruise: One formal night, and then an even mixture of informal and casual
10 night cruise: Two formal nights and then an even mixture of informal and casual
14 night cruise: Two to three formal nights and then an even mixture of informal and casual
21 night cruise: Three to four formal nights and then an even mixture of informal and casual.
21 plus nights: These will usually be in "segments". Each segment will follow the guidelines above so you can count on one formal night each 7 - 10 days.

From my memory, the non-formal nights are not evenly divided, rather tipped a bit in favor of cc casual.
