The regular SAA site didn't seem to give that option. Thanks

Just finished booking JNB to CPT on flight 349. Joanna's given you good directions, Tedd. I thought the SAA site was a bit confusing. Like, when do you get to choose your seat? Or is it more like Southwest?
We ended up booking Tucson to JNB through Regent. Leaving Nov. 11 Tucson - Atlanta - JNB via Delta. Hope they'll have their new business seats by then.
Whew, glad all my decisions are made and this is over! Now to the fun part - anticipating a wonderful safari/cruise.

Donna if you figure out seat assignment let me know please - how much time did you allow from arriving Delta flight to departing SAA flight - I think when I looked at my Delta plane to JNB it didn't have new seats wouldn't that be nice

Information I have is that leave in excess of 2 hours between flights. Ngaire has advised ROAR II people that it can take two hours to claim baggage and clear customs. Your luggage will not be automatically transferred onto domestic flights. I left 3 hours for our connection.

Joanna, we don't have a connecting flight. After arriving JNB, we are spending the night then off to Lion Sands for a 3-day safari before meeting GAME for safari at Madikwe.
Re SAA seat assignments, maybe they don't give any until flight? Hope an expert will chime in here.

As of now we're flying non-stop LAX to Zurich (stay there with friend for 3 nights) then non-stop Zurich to JNB. Stay at hotel one night than leave the following morning for "Savanna" for 3 nights (not going to Madikwe since we've been there so going to Sabi Sands)
Seats on SAA between JNB and CPT are not pre-assigned in economy, guess we get them at the airport.

Well I have had a whole group pre-assigned twice. Lot of good that did me when I got there they said they assign at the airport. Standing there with the confirmation of the seats in my hand, made no difference. I used to give a little speech in the vans on the way to the airport, I have seats assigned BUT----. I am not even trying now. The last two groups I just assigned when I got there as the check in man told me they are usually not available even if you get them ahead and have confirmations. I had that figured out already. Only a two hour flight, go with the flow I believe is the way to handle this one. ROAR I handle getting the flights from CPT to JNB on ROAR. So once you meet up with me in Cape Town it is all taken care of for you GAME - ONLY THOSE ON MY ESCORTED TRIP TO MADIKWE. I can also get K&D to handle the flight from JNB to CPT for those on GAME if they want me to do so. If you wish to purchase this flight yourself you can book on www.flysaa.com and book flight #349 departing at 3.50pm on November 19th. Some may get this flight with their FF tickets so it was not included in the safari.

As you can see Regent opened TODAY for flights for SAMBA. I do know that we CANNOT get the flight from JNB to CPT on November 19th included in the international tickets. DARN.
However good news is they are using Delta from Atlanta to JNB so that is the best schedule out there. They wont have that many seats so those that want to use Regent particularly business class should call in now to B&K and let us get you the flights.

I'm sure you can check this out Ngaire, but I think any Star Alliance Gold on this flight will be allowed an extra 44 lbs. in luggage weight. I am coming into JNB on Delta, and transferring to SAA for the flight to CPT.

I have booked SAA 349 from JNB to CPT on the 19th - coach. Just hope I did it correctly. Joanna, I'm with you. This air stuff is enough to take a person straight into a major headache. Olivia, will I be flying with my chin resting on my knees or does coach some leg room? Even a small amount should be OK for only 2 hours.

Olivia SAA does say that a "code share" Star Alliance flights gets the extra baggage. I have been trying to find out if this flight qualifies as a "code share" Star Alliance flight. I sent an email to SAA but not heard anything back. I might try to ask K&D Houston, they have an air department. Eventually we will get the answer.

Yeah! I finally took the time today and am all booked! There are a few snags, nothing huge. We are biz ORD to Johannesburg on Delta. Have coach back from Rio, but are waitlisted for biz. Transferred 340k AmEx platinum points to Delta. Also booked the new group flight to Capetown on the 19th  ! What a relief, even with all the rest of the stuff going on with the renovations and move, THIS was keeping me up nights!

I think its funny that if I was flying home from JNB then Biz Class would only be 120k per ticket. But because we are flying back from Rio it costs an additonal 90k per ticket, 420k for two Bix Class tickets. And they act like they are doing you a favor.
I am very happy to have gotten them though.

Agree Frank - the rape of the FF's flyers for old timers sad - my kids, who fly for work and rack up mega pts US and Europe, say they never use them as can't get decent flights in timely fashion from any airline -
