Outside of the town itself, Walvis Bay sure is one HUGE desert. The rolling sands seem to go forever and ever.

Last night we had a really fun "Dinner Under the Stars". We were taken on a bus to the desert, then got into 4x4's and driven over sand dunes to a large tent where tables, bar etc. were all set up. They had camels there for rides. Tom actually climbed up to the top of one of the dunes where he could see the ocean from the top. (you can see him as a dot on top). There was local entertainment with African singers and dancers which was fun. After dinner we stayed with some friends and sat around the campfire singing camp songs like Cumba-La. It was a very nice evening and RSSC did a good job considering how many passengers there were (this was a special event for the entire ship and tough to pull off!!)..

Today we;re at sea....we'll be in Cape Town tomorrow. Yippee!!

All I can say is WOW!! The photos of the camels are just amazing. I hope you get that printed out and put that photo in the cabin.

Randy - yes, Namibia was where Brad and Angelina had their baby. We had a lot of fun discussing that on ROAR last year because some of us did the Four Corners neverending tour which went to Namibia. Plus, Brad & Leslie did a post-safari there. Good times!

Marcie, great pictures. Are you the eternal optimist. I remember my parents took a camel ride and said the animals had a terrible smell. you did not mention that.
