Denise - I will be there with you, maybe we can perpetuate "the pinot grigio" mile that the TPAers have started - sounds like my kind of walk! :D Lets revive it on CROSS.

Andi - (and Kathy too) thanks for the info on how the cooking classes work now, it does sound interesting and different - just not sure I want to commit three hours per session. Are they in the morning? Is everyone in one group, or are there several groups? Sorry I keep asking all these questions.

Just got back from my daily walk (without any wine), so I'll certainly join you! The wine will certainly add something nice to the experience :D .

There are 3 groups. The times are rotated on different days. Two days are 9am and one day is at 1pm. There are two group dinners. We're just about to leave for the galley tour which takes place at 5pm.

Tonight is the Seven Seas Party at 6:30. We all did quite well at baggo and miserably at trivia today. The questions were easy, but the answers were hard!

We are having 3 nights with the crew....first night, staff captain and chief engineer; 2nd night, hotel director. They are all so good looking! The service continues to be great. The weather is glorious...80 degrees. Very smooth sailing....

Andi, Jan Hufford is good at trivia. She is my friend and also knows Ngaire. I've played trivia with her for several years, try to get her on your team as she is still onboard.

Sounds like you all are having the same glorious weather we had crossing last week. Hope it continues!

Peggy - we could get a "walking group" together and make it a daily ritiual! :D :D Denise, you in???? Anyone else? We would be the envy of the ship up on the track. Maybe we should just take a bottle with lots of straws. cheer cheer

Thanks Andi for the additional info on the Cordon Bleu class. Am still deciding.

How early are we talking here. I'm not a morning person--I like to stay up late and sleep late. Anyway, in the AM--it would need to be 9:00 or later. I usually walk around 10 or 11 --after I wake up :) .

Denise - that idea I really like. Have you ever had a Bull Shot? When I was on the France many years ago, we had them for breakfast every morning - vodka, bullion and spices that I could never figure out at home.

We can work out times agreeable to all who are interested. Ten seems like a good time that's not too early or late. Another option could be walks for early risers and later walks for those who like to sleep in.

I've never heard of a Bull Shot, Nini. We'll need to give it a try on CROSS, so please remind me if I forget.

Just got an answer to my e-mail to Mark Conroy. Don't know what's going on aboard Voyager right now, but he said the only ship that's currently non-smoking in Compass Rose is Navigator. They are looking for a technical solution for Voyager and Mariner. He also warned that there is currently legislation pending in both the U.S. and Europe that would prohibit smoking in staterooms and on balconies on all ships. He said that policy will be distributed to all SS members as soon as it is finalized.

Bull Shot's are a thing of the past but a great drink all the same -

2 oz Vodka
4 oz Clear beef broth
1 tbs lemon juice
1-2 dashes Worcestershire Sauce
4-6 drops of Tabasco (less to taste)
Pinch of celery salt
Salt and pepper

Place some ice cubes in a shaker and add all the other ingredients. Shake for 6-8 seconds and strain into a glass. The cocktail is ready.

Enjoy!

Thanks, Robert - it has been about a hundred year since I've had one of those. I wonder if the bartenders on the Voyager can make one.

What's the Bloody Mary with horseradish and salt around the rim of the glass called, I love those too!

There was bartender on the SoF named Eugene that made the most delicious ones!

Karen,

I think it still is called Bloody Mary. I think horseradish is an ingredient of the classic Bloody Mary.I also love Bloody Mary made with V-8.

Then there's the bloody bullshot...same as a bullshot with Tomato juice...

We had another wonderful evening ... this time with the Hotel Director, Englebert. He is wonderful and runs a terrific ship. Food has been just great and service continues to be impeccable. In fact, I asked for a rare hamburger (which is a no no) and they broke the rules for me in the nicest way..."we really would prefer you wouldn't eat the hamburger that way, but if it is what you want, of course."

If I die of e-coli, I have only myself to blame.

Most of the LCT crowd then hung out and went to the liar's club for a fun game...we all lost admirably...came in 3rd out of 11 teams...

We are all in bed and it's now 12:30. I am still astounded at how nice the weather is. I thought it would be cool. It is bathing suit weather...very warm.

Tomorrow am is our second cooking class...9am. yuch. (the time, not the course).

Wish you were here. It's really great.

thanks, Marcie...haven't met her yet..boy, do we need her..

Yesterday was a nice recovery day. Betty & I started the day planning for our Kentucky Derby Party. Marcie and the world cruisers set the bar high when it comes to theme parties but we are going to give it a shot. Set your clocks early for Sunday, because I believe the best photos are yet to come!
We had pizza & pasta for lunch which was perfect fuel after a very late night and another turning ahead of the clocks.
Dinner was great, of course and afterwords we had fun at Liars Club. We made it an early evening since we had to be up early this morning for our Cordon Bleu class.

The photos are a little more tame yesterday. We needed a mid-cruise re-charging day! Because TONIGHT... we DANCE!!!!

Great time today...From 9-12 we made chocolate tarts in le Cordon Bleu (CB)...had a relaxing day doing NOTHING but visiting with one another...tonight, we had a dinner with all the CB folks and it was great.

On a service note....I asked for a club sandwich in La Veranda and I was told it most certainly could be arranged..with 20 minutes notice.

The weather has been incredible. Can't wait to do this again. It's going too fast.

I sure hope they change the Cordon Bleu class menu before CROSS...otherwise, Fred and I have already done those recipes.....
