I know that Silversea has self service laundries on their ships. My question is whether the washers and driers are sufficient in number so as to be reasonably available. It is our habit (on cruises with three dress codes which are longer than a week) to count on washing our no-iron garments while onboard. We've previously cruised Radisson, where 3 of their 4 ships do have adequate facilities, to our experience. Are they adequate on sSilversea?

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, I'm not sure. I did use the ironing board in there and it seemed like there were two washers and two dryers on the Whisper.

Richard, I remember using the laundry room on the Whisper on Deck 4 and it had two washer/dryers and an iron. Obviously, you and I are do-it-yourself laundry people (for some items)! The Seabourn was such a disaster-people were complaining and getting no help. The iron is very tricky to use and it got frustrating. I think we needed a little instruction on how to use the Whisper washers (can't remember why-it was some years back) but other than that the place was quite adequate. Not like Radisson, of course!

Yes, soap and fabric softener were both provided. I'm not sure about bleach.

Well, we are only "DIY laundry people" insofar as clothing that requires no ironing is concerned. If the clothing requires ironing, we usualy "send it out" whether onboard ship or at home. But with the prices of cruises on really good cruise lines rising, I fear we must concern ourselves with details, such as whether we must send our undies to the ship's laundry (at ships's laundry prices) or whether we can count on the availability of a self service facility. And, we know that just because a line states that self service laundry is available, it does not mean that sufficient facilities are available to be realistically useable without long waiting times, which really translate into unavailability. I know, I know, there will be those who will say that one who spends thousands on a Silversea cruise shouldn't be concerned about a few bucks on ship's laundry. To those, I would respond as follows: how else does one get to the point of being able to afford a Silversea cruise? So my question continues. Are self serve laundries REALLY available, or is there such a wait to use them that they are really unavailable?

Thanks,
Richard

Richard, when our girl's group was on the Whisper I went to the self service laundry 2 times ( for undies etc.) and once I did have to wait and come back and that was because all of the machines were being used by one of the crew. Other then that they were always empty but that could also be because I'm an early riser and went to the laundry around 7:00 a.m. and the other time was later in the evening. I doubt you will have a problem getting your laundry done.

Adequate laundry facilities on the Shadow and Whisper, but it can be dicey on the Cloud and Wind. Only have the one laundrette (Deck 4) so it can get quite busy.

We were on the Wind for 12 days last summer. We did several loads. I don't recall any problems with the laundry being busy. Since we were on Deck 4 it was very convenient. Just to note the ship was full.
