Well, pray for me--I'm the one who had a dear family member die in 2006 while we were on the Paul Gaugin and had to cancel the 2007 Voyager because our daughter got cancer. We are going to try to repeat the Paul Gaugin trip that we missed--but checked the website today and every shore excursion we wanted to do is already booked!
Know any good vendors in the area??--we are going October 3rd, and hitting Huahine, Raitea, Rangiroa, Bora Bora, Taha'a, and Moorea. Staying a day before in Papeete, and a day afterwards. Please pray that EVERYONE we love stays healthy and alive! So looking forward to going back to the sea and Regent.

I should add that our daughter seems to be in remission from her cancer. We just wanted to try and complete the beautiful trip that we had interrupted.
Love, Elena :p

Elena - you have our prayers. We have held our breath several times as to wheaher or not we would actually get to go, luckily we have been able to so far.

Hopefully your trip will be everything you want it to be and you will enjoy every moment.

So glad to hear that your daughter is doing well and our prayer is that she will continue to do so.

Aaah, but most of the shore excursions are already booked, if we do get to go!!!
Are there generally vendors hocking snorkeling cruises out on the docks when the tenders come in?

sorry for the double post--have never had every shore excursion booked four months before the ship leaves, especially when they are excursions you have to pay for!

PS: we are thrilled about our daughter's health improvement! :app:

Best wishes for you and your daughter.
These kind of things sure do make us know the real priorities in life--life!

Elena, I hope this cruise makes up for the one you missed. The excursions will work themselves out. You'll find plenty to do. Happy sailing!

Have never done Regent without doing the ship's excursions. Am sort of floundering here. Have you ever done private vendors in the South Pacific? Every vendor that I have contacted so far says they are contracted to the cruise ships when the cruises are in port. Guess we could always get a taxi and tell them to take us to a good snorkeling hole!

on the motu day, you won't need an excursion. You just snorkle right there, and they have kayaks you can use as well.
In Moorea, we rented a car at the dock on day and did our own touring. It was really fun to drive around the island. We went up to the Belvedere, went to a factory where they make a very strong Kahlua type liquor, went to a couple of beaches.
I would think you could do the same on BoraBora. There is a motu there too that is included, but not a extensive services as the other. You can snorkle and kayak though.

Well, more good news. Our daughter's last scan was really good, so that she doesn't even need another scan until sometime in October. We leave October 1st, so we should have results by the time we come home on the 16th!
We've managed to book something for Raitea and the second day in Bora Bora, but nothing for Huahine. Regent says that they will get cancellations and we will be able to go on anything we want.
Wish I could scuba, most of those are open. My doc says my inner ear is too lousy for scuba.
Anyway, just had to let you all know there is more good news.

First of all, so nice to hear your wonderful news!!!
RE you cruise:
Try Mark at Huahine Nautique if you are interested in a snorkel tour while on Huahine.

Another suggestion is to book a car with the
wonderful folks at Huahine Europcar and have a lovely time driving yourselves around the island. They'll collect you at the tender dock and you'll be on your way quickly. Great snorkeling off Relais Mahana on Huahine Iti.
Huahine is a beautiful island and our favorite in FP...well, in the entire world actually.

Sounds peculiar that the excursions are booked up so far in advance. Never happened to us on four trips on the PG. We have had a few locked out, but once we got on board, openings occurred. The snorkeling excursions are pretty big. Maybe something has changes since 2008

Vaitape, thank you for your suggestions. Where is Huahine Nautique? I definitely would be interested in snorkeling. The Europcar is a good suggestion, too. I presume I could find them on line.
Egret, I think it is peculiar, too! But it is impossible to not be happy in FP!! :chicken:
