We just returned from our 1st Oceania cruise. Guess we just missed Judy and John. We left on the Insigna from Istanbul on Oct. 15, and ended in Monte Carlo.

We (a group of 8 friends) were, all in all, pretty happy with our Oceania experience. We had some unfortunate rain and some really rough seas :( a couple of days, but for that, the cruise line cannot be blamed.

We were booked in a concierge level cabin and found it pretty darn small, 216 sq. ft. Seemed each time I turned I smashed into Larry. ;) I’m sure he felt the same. We especially missed RSSC’s walk in closet and the roomy showers. The beds and linens are quite comfortable. I’m sure, if we ever cruise on Oceania again, we will book a penthouse category cabin.

I must agree with those who have made comments about the, much too small, guest laundry facilities. I don’t know, but I was told that a couple of ladies almost got into fist-a-cuffs over the appliances one morning. cheer

Oh, dear, I am so used to Regent that I am afraid I am going to be disappointed. I am trying to book shore excursions for our upcoming January 30th cruise from Hong Kong to Bangkok and they seem to have some strange system that I do not understand. I am usually a whiz at this sort of thing, but am stymied here. I've been told the post office in Saigon is a must see. Anybody know anything you must see in Manila, Sihanouk, Nha Trang, Borneo (Kota Kinabalu and Muara). Taipei and Taiwan, also. Would love some help!

Yes, most of the staterooms on the ex-Renaissance ships are not large. Do book a Penthouse Suite next time [we've in one of those for the 3/15 crossing on the Insignia, BA - BCN)] and were in the same size suite on Azamara a year ago. They're about 50% larger, with a nice-sized bathroom!

Gary, the penthouse sounds like the proper option.

Elena, I am sure you will not be disappointed with your Oceania cruise.
cheer

If you want a close to Regent experience, you definitely need the Penthouse. If you had found the standard cabin on the Paul Gauguin acceptable the Concierge class on O would be ok. I wouldn't book less than Concierge to be on Oceania but there is a noticable difference in Cabin size and especially bathrooms regardless of the cabin.
