We first used Heliocare capsules when we cruised home from Aukland last December. Our dermotologist highly recommended them. They really work. You take one every three hours when you are in the sun. I don't use additional lotions but Jim does as he has a very fair Celtic complexion & gets sunspots. We still wear broadbrimmed hats but we have not been burned in French Polynesia, Easter Island, the MidEast or Greece.

Alan has to be really careful in the sun. Has already had to do a course of Effudex on his face. I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy. I'm going to suggest he ask our dermatologist about this. Thanks for the tip, Jackie.

I won't comment on whether Heliocare is effective or not since I really have no idea. But please remember that it is still no substitute for using sunblock. Sunblock works by chemical and mechanical blocking of the skin from UV radiation so that skin damage doesn't take place. Please remember to use sunblock regularly if you're out in the sun regularly and to remember to reapply every 2-3 hours (and more frequently if you're in the water). You can still use Heliocare if you wish on top of using sunblock but it really doesn't replace it.
