I am watching the ongoing coverage of the mine explosion in West Virginia. The spokeperson from the mine just requested the country's prayers for the trapped 13 miners. At this point it will take a miracle...BUT...this LCT prayer/good thoughts chain seems to have had incredible power in the past....so please put them in your thoughts and prayers.

It will be in the next few hours when the families will find out if their loved ones made it or not!!

Time once again to feel fortunate for our health, our family and our friends!

Thanks!
Sheri

Prayers and positive thoughts are going out from us to the trapped miners and their families impacted by such a tragedy. Hopefully, a miracle will occur!

What makes it more shameful is this mine has been cited with so many safety violations. My prayers have been with the miners and their families since hearing about the explosion.

Have been thinking about them and praying for them since we first heard about it - just hoping for the best outcome.

I'm surprised to see no update here. This is even more horrible. LAst night family members were told that 12 of 13 were found alive. But a few hours later, after celebrating, they were told those 12 were dead. I cannot begin to imagine the range of emotions those family members must have felt.

Gil,
I waited up last night and saw that "12 were alive". I posted that, and went to sleep with happy tears...then I woke this morning to the HORRIBLE news, and just couldn't find the words to post, so I just erased my post from last night.
It is indeed devastating! :( It is quite possible, with it being so close to me, that I will get a call to come down. I have mixed emotions about that.

I'd like to add my condolences to all the family members & friends of the 12 miners who died in this horrific tragedy. I can't imagine the extent of anguished pain that must have been experienced 3 hours after having heard that their loved ones were alive. I pray that they're able to get through this incredibly painful period.

What a terrible tragedy...compounded by the media!! Prayers for the families, fellow workers...and the survivor who will not only have to battle his physical injuries...but the psychological ones as well!

Everyone said their thoughts so eloquently. I must agree. How sad and difficult a time it is for those families. One minute hope and exhileration, several hours later their worst fears realized.

Our prayers to all the families going through such a trying ordeal and to the lone survivor, who, if he survives, will need to come to grips with the course of events. We wish them faith and strength to get through each day.

This reminds me of 9/11. A friend of mine's brother went over to the twin towners to help, then went missing. A couple of days later she saw his name posted on a website as a survivor. She spent a couple of days jubilantly trying to track down where he was. Turns out it was a mistake and he had died in the tradgedy. They had a funeral. A few months later they actually found his body and they had ANOTHER funeral.

That's so awful, Julie. Experiencing the death of a loved one places you on an emotional rollercoaster. Situations such as these only deepens the sorrow.
