O Jackie! There you are! What a great avatar! And, happy 35th anniversary to you & Jim. You've many more to look forward to celebrating....dancin' all the way around the world!  Editing to add: Yep, packing & sipping champagne is my favorite new year's celebration.

Oh, I wish we were going with you guys!!!
We always stay home on New Year's Eve. We have this silly little tradition where we buy 3-4 different bottles of champagne - one high-end, one or two mid-priced, and then our usual pour, Freixenet Brut (Spanish sparkling wine). We open all of them, then take turns at taste-testing. One of us goes into the other room while the other pours into different glasses. Re-enter the room, taste each and see if we can guess them all right. I seldom get them right but Greg usually does.
Then drink the high-end bottle in its entirety and recork the others to enjoy as mimosas the following day while watching the New Year's Day bowl games. And don't forget the omelettes!
Aren't we an exciting pair??!!

Kristen - I think that's a perfect New Years. We've been doing a Champagne and Caviar dinner in front of the fireplace at home since we got married. Some years we do Dom and other years Freixenet Brut.
We have friends who are having a party, we might stop in but then go home for dinner in front of the fireplace. We celebrate all the time zones too.

Oh Kristen, you are a more exciting pair than us. I expect we'll be in bed asleep before midnight on New Year's Eve. But on New Year's Day we hope to watch (on television) Michigan beat USC in the Rose Bowl.
January 2nd we celebrate our 42nd anniversary!

We'll be at home doing nothing in particular - after the hustle and bustle of Christmas it's nice to kick back and relax!

Usually we are away celebrating at some hotel in a not so distant city. This year however we will be celebrating at a Tuscany Villa, called "La Nostra Casa". Oh, I guess I should tell you that we live on Tuscany Court! LOL

Normally we stay home and have dinner in front of the fireplace - good champagne and some kind of shellfish. This year we're on the Mariner and we'll be sailing away from Acapulco - not sure what they have planned but I'm sure we'll have fun.

We are going out to dinner and then we are going to go down to Tokyo Tower with all the crowds. Should be sort of like Times Square in NYC. We can see the tower from our living room, but haven't been down there yet, so it should be fun!

M'ellen. If it is anything like the Voyager last year it was a lot of fun. They decorate, have ice carving of 2006 then will bring out the 7,have favors, and blow the horn at midnight.
PS M'ellen: Will we be able to see you and Jim the morning of the 9th?

We'll be etertaining two houseguests and hosting a pot luck dinner, mainly for neighborhood friends, with a Moroccan theme. I'm cooking chicken tagine and a friend is bringing lamb tagine - others are doing the side dishes.

Alan and I normally have pretty quiet New Years Eves. However, this year our very close friends from Florida (formerly from the "old" neighborhood in Queens, NY) will be visiting us. We are going to spend the afternoon at the movies. Then back to our house for some drinks and appetizers. Off to dinner at a great seafood restaurant fairly close to home. We've been invited to our daughter and boyfriend's apartment for a party, after dinner. I guess they want the older folks to show them how to really party (yeah, right!).
A very Happy and Healthy New Year to everyone! Here's hoping that 2007 is a joyous, healthy, peaceful, prosperous, and well-traveled year for all!

For the first time in years, I am actually going out. Since our last show was a matinee, no one wanted to party, so New Year's Eve will be our "cast party". Will be different. But I am sure I will leave before all the loonies get on the road. Happy New Year Everyone Lynn

I have to admit I'd rather be on the W.C., but since I'm not , we are flying to Northern Calif. tomorrow, and are going with my sister, and brother-in-law on the Napa Valley Wine Train New Years Eve Gala. Staying for 4 nights in a Bed and Breakfast in Napa Valley. Has anyone else ever done this, it's a black tie dinner and dance. Sounds like something different. We are usually on a cruise , or staying home. Happy New Years to All. p.s. our grandson lives in NYC and works at the Bubba Gumps in Times Square, he was picked to work New Years Eve, so he'll get to see the ball drop.

We'll be at our friends' house for a small party. Same as last year. If I had my druthers, we'd be on the Mariner, Voyager, or Navigator, dancing the night away under the stars. One of these days!

We are having brunch with my father-in-law and his lady friend, and may take in a movie afterward. We will probably be asleep at midnight. We have to be home by 7:00 pm because the First Night fireworks for the kids tend to upset Tigger, and he will need soothing.

I'm on-call so it will be low-key. We're going over to a friend's house (she's a fantastic cook, so I'm looking forward to that) and probably will celebrate New Year's with the New York crowd then head to sleep before "official" New Year's in Texas.

Roberta and I are joining a progressive dinner with a group of other couples in our neighborhood. We will be broken into small groups for cocktails and hors d'oerves (I never spell that word correctly), then move to another home for dinner and finally all end up together at one home for champagne to greet the New Year. Should be fun and safe.

While I wish I was cruising...we're going with another couple, good friends, to a restaurant named Brennan's. It's a wonderful evening with great food, music and dancing and it's real close to home.
Happy and healthy 2007 to all my LCT friends.

We were invited out to the Yacht Club here on the lake... would have been nice as it is formal attire... but my husband has been under the weather for the last 4 months... so... we are passing and will just stay here on our houseboat and celebrate the New Year casually with some good friends and enjoy all life has to offer...

That Brennan's is related to the Brennan family who has restaurants in New Orleans. Oh, how delish! Their breakfast is an icon. What a great way to spend New Years.

Happy New Year, friends! We are back from Christmas in Vermont (let's talk about holiday travel...NOT!) so New Years will be spent making latkes and caviar with my parents and their lawyer (weird), sipping some champagne & just general goofing around.
Hope y'all have a great one!

We have had to cancel our Moroccan dinner party - we are buried in about 2 1/2 - 3 ft. of snow - no means of transport for us other than snowshoes. The guy who plows our steep 1/2 mile road got his equipment stuck yesterday and who knows when he will arrive. Our houseguests had various adventures in attempting to get here but now are safely back in Phoenix. We're hunkering down for the evening!

Leslie: Your weather sounds so neat to me - just for 48 hrs though! We have fog here - our yearly New Years group of 12 has dwindled to 4 due to colds, bad hips etc - we're getting old! So I think we'll have a drink with the other couple and call it quits early and come home and eat alone - suits me fine!!! No way can we last till midnight

It's been fun to read all of your plans - many great options. We'll be doing the shipboard thing - dinner at 8:15 - then the show and midnight celebration. We're going to take a nap this afternoon just to be sure we're rested LOL!
I'll be packing tomorrow :( It's easier when you're headed home but not much fun. I loved the packing partt that Jamie organized on the Mariner at the end of our 2004 cruise - that's the way to go!
Happy New Years - have fun, stay safe!

We were supposed to be in Philly with friends, but my Mom had a bad heart spell on Christmas Eve and spent the better part of the day/night in the E.R. in Wisconsin.
I had the need to see her so we cancelled our Philly trip on 12/26 bought tickets to WI and flew there on 12/27 and got home at 2:30 a.m. this morning (bad weather delays in WI and MN).
I feel so much better now that I have been able to see my Mom and help her out and she is almost back to feeling like her old self! :)
Her heart isn't doing well, but the meds theyhave her on have helped her so much. She needs surgery, again, but they are afraid to do it due to her almost not making it the last time. We have decided to cancel our CROSS cruise and stay closer to the U.S. this year and spend more time visiting her! There is always tomorrow for a cruise! ;)
Our best friends have invited us to spend the night at their house watching the Packers and the bears (he he)! Then, back home tomorrow to cheer on the Badgers in their bowl game.
