Okay LCT, the show some of us love is about to start on the 6th of July. <img border="0" alt="[jump]" title="" src="graemlins/jumpjoy.gif" /> Karen and I communicated the last time it was on. I can't wait to see where they go this time, and see where we all want to go on our next trip! Karen, I checked off some of the locations from the Europe trip in May, I am sure you can start watching to see the locations for your Europe trip next year. FYI to everyone it will on July 6 on CBS. :) Jan

Jan, I can't wait! Though, I am a little sad, my girlfriend and I applied for the race after this one and never heard back :( For those of you who have never seen the show, it's really fun. The contestants have to travel around the world with limited money and get to the next location before the other teams. They go to some really exotic locales and sometimes, into the neighborhoods that can be scary. Jan, didn't one contestant get arrested in Morocco when he lost his passport? Amazing Race

One of my favorite shows! How many episodes are there, I've forgotten. I suspect we will be leaving for the Med cruise (Aug 22nd) before it's over and I don't like to keep the TV/VCR plugged in while we are gone due to our monsoons which are known for great lightening shows! Friends had done a land tour of South America after the last one and I recognized several of the places they'd been from the show. I hadn't realized how beautiful South America is. Look forward to discussions with you guys! Maggie

Karen,
Really cool with the map! I never knew they posted the stops, but can't wait!!
Yep, you are correct about the passport person. Thanks for the board also.
That is rip-off that you did not even get a response from CBS in regards to your request. We would have taken the LCT board members with you along the way to cheer you on!
Maggie, we will have fun with the show.
All those fans set your vcr's or dvd recorders for the show! Jan

Jan, That map isn't set in stone, it was made from reports of racer sitings while they were filming the show. I bet it is pretty close to their itinerary, though! I am looking forward to the Egypt episode.

Karen- They must get so many tapes, you wonder if they look at every single one. There are probably lots for the category of "best girl friends." I laughed when I saw the two brothers this year. They always manage to have two overweight funny guys! My friend's husband and I should have applied. We talk about it every year (kiddingly). They've never had that match-up! maggie

Count the Davises in for our favorite show ... this is a MUST WATCH event for us ... We love to envision ourselves on each leg and, of course, we ponder which pair within our father/mother/daughter/son family would make the best team. Guess I'll need to break down and buy TIVO to capture the show during NorFjor723.

Luke, I agree with you, this is one of the few shows that we must watch! I have the theme song running through my head right now! Maybe we should get together and have a chat afterwards (though 11pm is pushing my bedtime time a bit)

Karen- Prime time here in Phoenix is 7 pm - 10 pm which I had to get used to, so AR is on from 8:30 - 10 tonight. I'll check in the chat room after to see if you are still awake! ( Advantage of that is that now I get to see some of Letterman before 11pm.)
Next week it will be at the regular time (here) of 9 - 10.

My absolute favorite reality show! I've heard there are no "alpha male" team this season, so everyone should have a better chance.

Well, what does everyone think? We are rooting for the Army dad/daughter and the internet dating couple. The poor army dad, getting 25 stitches in his knee when he fell coming out of the starting gate! It appears to be as exciting of a season as last year was!
Jan, So far, the internet pit stop map that the fans created is accurate.

We are backing the same teams, as well as the Bowling Moms (too much fun, or is it funny) and Chip/Kim.
We are also hoping the next losers are either the twins or the brothers.

I've never watched the show before but the glowing reviews of the show by Karen et al got my attention and we Tivoed it tonight and watched. What fun! Amanda's complaining of a headache now from all the excitement. :) We've given it a season pass now to make sure we catch the whole thing. And we agree - cheering on Chip/Kim and the retired Army dad/daughter - hope the two brothers lose soon.
So are there perks for the order that you arrive at the pit stop? Do you depart the pit stop in the same order that you came in? Or are the only perks being the first arrival and not being the last?

Yes, Masaki, the perk to arriving at the pit stop early is the order in which you leave the following morning. However, many times that advantage is lost when several teams catch the next plane or have to wait for something to open the next morning to search for the next clue. I think I've heard something about a new twist this season that will help eliminate some of those equalizing factors. Karen is the expert - I'm sure she'll have a better answer.

Kathy, I only new twist I know about is the Yield, where you have a one time option to make a team who's ahead of you come a halt for a predetermned time.
Masaki, tell Amanda after they eliminate a few teams, it's a little easier to keep track and not quite so hectic :)
Marc, did you and Arlene watch?

Karen, those boys definitely need to go - no way are they as fun as Kevin & Drew! I don't know if I've picked a favorite team yet - I do like the dad and daughter though.
Masaki, one thing that usually happens is the teams usually go from first to worst. It's amazing (ha, ha) how it happens!

This is my second time to post: Karen, I had to tape the show last night.
We arrived from Bermuda late yesterday afternoon. We flew out of BWI on the 2nd and flew into a tropical storm that lasted until Monday. The people on the Navigator had a rough ride over and back. And then when we all arrived, the taxi drivers were on strike! We stayed at the Fairmont Hamilton Princess along the harbor and went to the salt water pool and back to the room many times. Finally got out to Southampton on Monday and saw the ocean and it was rough, and cold (from the storms). We did have a relaxing time. The Navigator left on Sunday from St. George and it rained the whole afternoon that day. And when we left Bermuda yesterday, there were 5 ships in port. Did not want to come home, even though it was raining most of the time. Just Beautiful. Even in the rain.
Karen, I will watch it when I get off of work. I might be taping it and then watching it on Wednesday nights, might be one night behind you. I shall comment on it tomorrow. Jan

Thanks for posting the link to the map of "predicted" legs of the season. I do hope that it is correct as it has Leg 4 in St Petersburg (no, not Fla!) one week and a day before we board BAT!! This one will need to be taped for my Bride!

Okay,
I did not know about the chat room, but hey I was in out of the country. Good excuse!! Karen, you might want to send me a special e-mail (hint) in regards to the next chat.
Okay, just finished the tape. I agree, the brothers are just NOT like the ones from last year, that we all fell in love with. They are a little nasty already. The poor father with 25 stitches, and he kept moving. Good for him. Next week the twins look like they get into a hassle. I was surprised by who got eliminated. It seems like the people that should win, don't. We shall stay tuned. Karen, you might want to move the chat to Wed. night so that the Pacific coast people and Hawaii can take part in the chat. Just an idea. When is the last show this summer?
What did you all think about the challenge? That was kinda cool with the hotel. Landing in the pool. Not sure enough about the beef... Not sure if I like the yield part of the game yet. I hope next week they go inside and show the hotel. Jan

"...a three part series that finds them competing to see who can do better at a series of tough jobs. In the premiere, they have to harvest cranberries and wrestle alligators, which they tackle with a gung-ho, conquer-all-fears spirit that should make their native New York proud."
....
"And they actually work. Not without complaint, mind you, but their insults (mostly affectionate) are inflicted on each other, not bystanders. If any two big, bald, overgrown frat boys can be considered adorable, it's [sic] Kevin and Drew - and that's some Discovery."

Yes I did. Conrad Hilton sure got a lot of free advertising. I wonder if the zip lines were left up for other guests. I find that there are too many couple to start. The father and daughter don't have a chance. I agree they need to get rid of the two guys quick.
Tuesdays I can watch; but it sure is nice to have the PVR.
