I had to laugh when I read your comments about having enough food to last about a week. I cook the very same way. Makes a busy workweek easier when it comes to dinner time.

Have a great time at Seder #2. Abbreviated is the best, isn't it? Only those who've attended a complete and unabridged Seder can understand exactly what I am referring to. The Seder can go on and on and on.

I bought my brisket at Costco too. It was really excellent. The meat there is all USDA Choice and it was trimmed perfectly too.

I took a breather from MY brisket to see what I've been missing on the computer this weekend. My table for my 2nd night is decorated with flowers from Costco and they are lovely. I haven't chanced their brisket yet, but it should be great.

I am the proud owner of a Cairn Terrier who will be playing Toto in a local professional production, hence, I am currently from Munchkin Land and our job is to travel the yellow brick road and "run, toto, run"!

Well, actually, I'm a transplant from Boston and miss the skiing and foliage season, but,otherwise, I'm happy in K. C. Whenever I hear any reference to the Land of Oz, I think Kansas. I still have some family back East, but have 2 kids here with me and they, and their fmailies, will be here in an hour for brisket and tzimmes.

Seder #2 was interesting. The kids were so cute. Another brisket, with Tsimmes (apricot) and my kugel.

Don't they know I'm going to Tahiti in 3 weeks and I can't afford to eat like this?

My Seder is over and it was very short:
The 8 month grandson had a cold and couldn't chew brisket and breathe at the same time.
The 3 year old just wanted to know when he can get the Afikomen and will he get candy for his prize.
The 2 teenage sets of boys kept fighting with their siblings and trying to out sing each other with Dayenu at the top of their voices.
And I loved every "family" minute of it.

Seder #1 didn't go as planned - drove to Philly with kids, only to learn on arrival that that morning my sister had to go to hospital with chest pains & tightness (She's out now after checking out ok). So none of the stuff she was going to cook ever got cooked.
And Seder #2 didn't happen either.

So I need my fix of filling Passover food as I am nowhere near waddling stage yet!

That's why Passover is 8 days. You can keep having Seder's until you are unable to eat anymore for weeks at a time! If you can be here by dinner time, you are welcome to join us for leftovers.

Is there a holiday coming up that features baklava? I will travel to your house for it, distance is no problem :)

I have been craving some for 2 weeks now!

When is/was Greek Easter? I have a Greek friend whose mother makes the BEST baklava! Also, my assistant's husband is Greek, but his isn't as good.

I work with a man from Egypt and his wife makes incredible baklava.

You haven't been to one that goes on and on till you've been to one with an orthodox grandfather. I remember my grandfather's seder as lasting for what seemed like 3 hours, and it was all in Hebrew. And heaven forbid if we talked when he was reciting!

Everyone's brisket recipes sound great, and Kathy I'm definitely going to have to try your noodle kugel.

Gil and I got to the supermarket too late on Sunday so we didn't do brisket for second seder. :(

First night seder was fine...I was at my sister's. Our seder was so abbreviated the kids only recited half the questions.

The seder plate? the egg wasn't hard boiled and went back in the refridgerator right after dinner and the lamb shank? LOL. I took some aluminum foil and shaped it into a lamb shank. OY!

Second night was a little tough for me in that it was the first time I wasn't with my kids. But it was nice to be able to spend it with Gil.

OH YES I have been to an Orthodox Seder...it was in Hebrew - I was mismerized at age 12!!! And at 12/13 I spent much time at bar/bat mitzvahs - and my friends spent Xmas Eve at my house & SPENT the night WAITING FOR SANTA - WONDERFUL!!

My Orthodox grandfather also conducted our seders in Hebrew and it was endless. The more quiet we kids were expected to be, the more giggles we tried to squelch. Many a seder found the children sitting far away from each other.

My Mother made us sit thru the Maxwell Coffee or Maneschevitz Haggadah more than once from cover to cover. They gave them away at the A&P.

I won't forget the first time I was allowed wine - it was cherry and I got tipsy because I did not sip it. I had friends over and they thought it was very cool that we could have wine with dinner. We were 15 at the time.

Very funny story, Kathy, that I so can relate to. Drinking too much Kosher wine can make you really nauseous.

Kathy - I'm in that same place you are - or was.
First seder I drank wine I was about 11 or 12. I think it was a 3 - 4 hour seder, but I didn't know. I was fast asleep on the couch.

Looking back I often wonder how we drank that Manischewitz umm, what shall I can it that won't get deleted - Stuff!


My passover favorites are the Jelly Rings and chocolate covered marshmallows. YUMMMMM!

And let's not forget chocolate matzoh.

Um, my family had a Bakery (first Jewish one in LA in 1906 via San Francisco) and my grandfather grew up making the sponge cakes and his brother,Uncle Charlie, was the Macaroon Man! Nothing like those Macaroons.

first time i had wine was when i was 7 or 8. if you want to call that stuff wine...i was given just enough to keep me asleep on the ride home.

Denise you sure you weren't at my grandfather's seder with us?
