One of golden retrievers, Spenser, had surgery today for a fully torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL). The surgery (Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomy) went extremely well and the prognosis is very good for an almost complete recovery, the best that can be hoped for.

Thank you all so much for the "good thoughts" you sent our way for Spenser a few weeks ago.

Bill, Nancy, Spenser and Lincoln (our other golden retriever)

Bill,

That's great news on Spenser! I know how nerve wracking these things can be and am glad to hear the prognosis is good.

Great news Bill!! I was just thinking about Spenser knowing his surgery had to be coming up. Keep us posted on his recovery. I feel like he's everyone's dog!

NHCruisers:

For hope, I'd like to tell you that our experience is that canine orthopedic surgery usually goes well and produces the desired results. Our Pomeranian, "Baby" has had both her back knee sockets operated on due to a congenital condition common to the breed of shallow knee sockets that can cause disabling arthritis in old age. She is fully recovered and, if anything, darts around faster than ever.

Thanks,
Richard :) :) :)

Bill and Nancy,

Best wishes are coming Spenser's way from two PA Labradors (and their parents, of course.) Hope Spenser has a quick recovery. I can feel for him, too. I messed up my rotator cuff this past winter in a bad fall. "Almost complete recovery" is the best I can hope for, too.

We'll be thinking of you.

So great to hear that Spenser is doing so well. Hoping that each day finds him doing better and better.

Daisy and Gizmo wish that Spenser gets well quickly and without the dreadded Elizabethan Collar! Daisy said she has a tennis ball for Spenser to chase.

I have belated good wishes to Spenser from me as well as from "the girls", our Vizslas, Aspen and Maddie, 12- and 8-years-old, respectively. I know how important Spenser is as a member of the family. Maddie is currently in remission for lymphoma and we really appreciate every day we have with both of them.
