It is 2:45 here and I will head to the grocery store before 5 to pick up dinner - but I am lacking entree - my salad is something new I discovered at Harris Teeter - I go to their olive bar and fill container with marinated mushrooms, feta cheese, some yummy small black olives and some roasted peppers - pour that over sliced tomatoes and top with red wine vinegar - yummy -

That olive salad sounds good enough for me for dinner! YUMMY!! How about some chicken breasts on the grill, you can brush on some bottled Greek vinagerette dressing.

I think chicken breasts or salmon but Tony will pout about the salmon - better go with chicken breasts and they must have skin on for him - he calls the skinless ones yuppie breasts -

I think the most amazing salad dressing is
"GIRARDs" Champagne.
It is fabulous.. use it on everything..great as a marinade too..
tonite did a pasta salad ( cold chicken breast left over,black olives, artichoke hearts, red onions, basil , penne pasta).. and Girards.. man that was delicious..

Claudia - one of my favorites too. Also there is a French Mustard Vinigrete that I've been using. Faille is the brand I think. Very light.

Kathy, thanks for the link! What yummy flavors they have, even Green Goddess! I can't remember the last time I saw that dressing.
I am sure we don't have this brand at our local "Sparkle Market" What's really odd is Marzetti is the most popular label sold around here and it makes Girards!

It's a damp chilly day today so I am making sauerkraut, pork and piroghis. Guaranteed to stick you your ribs :) I just put it in the oven to cook all day and the house smells like sauerkraut already!

Boy, what we wouldn't do for a damp, chilly day here in Texas. It's been over 100 degrees for six days in a row. No way I'm going to cook in this heat--we go out to somewhere with good A/C blasting :D

I'm with you Peggy. We are frying & dripping with sweat down here. Getting ready to hit the pool, which these days is just one giant warm bath. The only relief is to put on a skimpy sun dress, go to the grocery store and just stand in front of a freezer case.

Bacon wrapped filets on the grill tonight. I had been saving a bottle of champagne for when the pool is completed, but since they are taking FOREVER to do so, I popped the cork today & am currently enjoying. We'll buy another bottle later!

We enjoyed our cooler days,which was when I made the Irish Stew. (You'll have to let me know what you think Kristin.) Our days have warmed up again and we have spent the last two of them flipping burgers for the church at the town's local carnival. Luckily, it was only about 80 degrees, but I don't think we'll be making burgers at home anytime soon!

Lawrence, I'm with you, but I am taking the long road, and preheating the oven for my Stouffer's French Bread Pizza tonight. Not sure what I'm pairing it with, either Diet Pepsi, or whatever leftover wine is in the fridge. It probably doesn't have a label that I would publish.
I love this thread, and so admire all of you wonderful cooks out there who seem to manage to make wonderful meals with little effort! My problem is getting to the store to buy the ingredients! I hate shopping for food.

Bristol Farms did not have it. Did get the Champagne Dressing. Will have to go to Ralphs in Encino. That is one of the best Ralphs.
Today's Menu: BBQ Opah (Hawaiian Tuna)basted with Sweet and Sour Sauce. BBQ Corn on the cob and String Beans in foil with Mushrooms.
Can you tell by my menu that we've been mostly grilling? - the new BBQ Grill is incredible. Will do ribs or rotisserie this weekend -oooh LEG of LAMB is really good 6 Burners on 42" of BBQ and the Rotisserie burner too.

Well, my fish did not come out right - too dry. Flame probably too high. Looked great - but it was too firm. On the other hand the string beans did not cook so had to microwave them. It's funny that I have to adjust my cooking to the new BBQ. At least i have a three day weekend to practice. If you are in town, you are welcome to be the guinea pig.
