A lot of us get emails regularly from crooks trying to phish and get financial information - addresses, credit card numbers, passwords to financial websites, etc. etc. etc. How good are you at determining legitimate emails from phishing emails? Here's a test to see how well you do. http://www.sonicwall.com/phishing/

Excellent post, M!! This is a great illustration of how "real" these phishing e-mails can look and sound.
Call me paranoid...I got 9/10 correct. :)

I got 9/10. One of the limitations was that you can't obviously hover over the embedded URL's to see if they're legitimate. I missed the Paypal one because of that.

Masaki, I know this, but in this case it wasn`t there, I think it had been omitted from the jpeg or something. Either that or it looked legitimate.

Good quiz. They really hit the most common ones.

EDIT: Clearer images have been inserted...hope this helps. Thought I'd share the email I received in my work account today (despite WB's firewall and uber filtering site)...looked fairly authentic (but smelled pfishy) so Karen and I decided to investigate. Here's the e-mail: ![[Linked Image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a19/robertatwb/phishletterfromciti.jpg) We were both immediately prevented by our browsers (both Firefox) from proceeding any further: ![[Linked Image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a19/robertatwb/ffwebwarning.jpg) Nice, right? We compared security settings and sure enough we were both set the same. ![[Linked Image]](http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a19/robertatwb/ffsecuritysettings.jpg) This is a level of security and protection that I have not seen on IE. I am very happy to have made the MOVED to FF for my PC computing and run Safari and FF on my MAC. Have you made the switch?
Robert

I also tested the link on Internet Explorer and it opened the link without warning. That much alone is worth the switch to Firefox which is an easy download AND it comes with spell checker that works on all places you type, including LCT :app:

Masaki (& Robert):
Just thought that you'd like to know that Andi's new MacBook is here. She is playing/learning it as I type! Such a quick learning curve (lol)
Nice looking machine. The metal case is very pretty & the solid tracking pad/click pad works very nicely.

OH, I have to tell you, on at least 3 occasions, I reported emails as spam (not necessarily phishing) and was told by the legitimate companies, they were real.
