Lynn, Karen taught me all I know about capturing and posting web pix. Since we all get on the webcam at different times, if I find a good one, I'll post one.

Thanks Beth. Before they changed the camera I could capture the photos. But I can't do it any more. This morning when I looked, two of the puppies were sleeping outside of the bed and the bed was full of the remaining growing puppies. But then the two that were outside the bed managed to wiggle their way on top of their sleeping siblings. So cute.

They're getting so big....won't be long and they'll have new homes. We will sure have withdrawals! I can't imagine how I'll start my day without checking in on them. :mecry:

Now they have the five puppies head shots across the top of the site. It appears there are 2 males and 5 females. They are listed as Kan1, Kan2 and Szukal 1-5. I checked an online Hungarian/English translation and came up with stag or boar for kan and bitch for szukal.

We need Doris' husband to take a look and tell us how long we have to say good-bye to our puppies. My guess the time is very near if not already here. I'll echo Marcie. :mecry:

Andrea, I agree, I love the head shots.
By the way, my favorite (female #2 with the fewest spots" they named Snow White. I wonder if the new owners will email pictures to us so we can watch them grow more. (I doubt it) :mecry: :mecry: :mecry:

I like the one with the fewest spots, too. It looks like she has an "on" button on her the top of her head!

Karen, LOL, probably only you would see that as her "on" button.

We at least don't have to change our name for Petey to a feminine form.

Karen - how did you save the picture? I was trying to get one of your other favorite - the one with the black patch on his eye.

I don't know anything about Dalmatians, I wonder if fewer spots make them less desirable in the "Purebred Breeding" world" ?? I love them all but I think the one with the fewest spots in my favorite too....and of course Petey!

I'm with you Lynn, wish we could continue to follow them as they grow up and have new homes. They sure will be missed!

Andrea, I could only save the thumbnail versions of the pix, just right click on them and choose save. If you want one of the bigger pix, you have to do a screen capture and I was just too lazy ;)

Andrea, if you ever want to learn how to save pix when downloading them isn't an option, just let me know. The technique comes in handy when capturing pix of streaming webcams who's pix are unsavable.

Does everyone know that if you click on those little pictures, there are more of each puppy?
Karen, what happened to you? I thought you liked the one with the patch over the eye best.
Marcie, I don't know about number of spots, but I did read that, at least in the U.S., if it has a patch over its eye, it disqualifies it as a show dog.
Andrea, I have learned that right above the frame of the group picture, there is a little box that says JPG. If you click on that, it opens another box to capture the picture. Of course, by the time it opens, the video keeps moving, but you can get a full size picture.
Back to Karen, if you know how you can get more than a thumbnail of the individual pix, please email me how to do it. Thanks
Lynn
Adding that as of right now, the mobotix camera is still on!!!

Marcie,
This is from the AKC description of color and markings for a Dalmation.
Lynn

Color and markings and their overall appearance are very important points to be evaluated. The ground color is pure white. In black-spotted dogs the spots are dense black. In liver-spotted dogs the spots are liver brown. Any color markings other than black or liver are disqualified. Spots are round and well-defined, the more distinct the better. They vary from the size of a dime to the size of a half-dollar. They are pleasingly and evenly distributed. The less the spots intermingle the better. Spots are usually smaller on the head, legs and tail than on the body. Ears are preferably spotted. Tri-color(which occurs rarely in this breed) is a disqualification. It consists of tan markings found on the head, neck, chest, leg or tail of a black- or liver-spotted dog. Bronzing of black spots, and fading and/or darkening of liver spots due to environmental conditions or normal processes of coat change are not tri-coloration. Patches are a disqualification. A patch is a solid mass of black or liver hair containing no white hair. It is appreciably larger than a normal sized spot. Patches are a dense, brilliant color with sharply defined, smooth edges. Patches are present at birth. Large color masses formed by intermingled or overlapping spots are not patches. Such masses should indicate individual spots by uneven edges and/or white hairs scattered throughout the mass.

It appears that the two puppies with the best show markings have been sold. That's one male and one female. The word lefoglalva is across their photos. The translation I found was: take, secure, reserve, levy, impound, engage, distrains, distrain, confiscate, book, attach, arrest. Since I doubt that they were either arrested or confiscated they must have at least been reserved!

Waaaaa! Our babies are growing up and moving out! At least our two fav pups are still there. I tried to get a pix just now of one of the puppies tugging on an electrical cord that is hanging on one of the fences but he was too quick!

Thank you Kathy, I was just going to ask if anyone had the translation. I just assumed that is what it meant.
What are we going to do?
Karen, have you heard from Gyula about when they will be ready to move?

Just now when I looked the gate is open and no puppies are in sight! I am in withdrawal. Sure hope that they are back soon!

Editing 5 hours later to say I just watched several of the puppies back in view. The first two in view were "Snow White" & "Petey" playing together.

OK, it is official. The two sold puppies were picked up today by their new owners. Boo Hoo.!!
However, it doesn't seem like any others have been sold yet.
They normally would not let them go until next week.

Gee, Wendy, don't you think you could make arrangements with the concierge of your new condo building to take care of your Dalmation when you're enjoying your travels? I seem to remember that you're up on about the 13th floor. Perhaps you have a enormous balcony?

Kidding aside, I'm not really even a dog person but I really have loved watching these puppies growing up.

Kathy, dogs are allowed in our building, and we have a few big ones. But Dals need lots of exercise; they are runners. And hard to train I think as well. More suited to someone who runs or cycles frequently than a semi-sedentary almost-retiree like me.

Plus I have a cat who despises dogs. He could probably adjust in the long-term, and perhaps warm up to a puppy.

We are really dog people (at least David is, I'm ambidogstrous--I love cats too.) We dream of getting another dog, but at this stage it would be a little one, perhaps a pug. And I would certainly make sure we weren't going on any big trips for the first couple of crucial years if we did, so that means some time in the future.

Although at least you can kennel a dog, Shadow loved her kennel.

We had a great dog sitter until our last cruise on the Regatta. I think that she has some health issues and locked our 12 y/o Lhasa outside by accident. Our neightbor saw him and took him in which is good since we have hawks and coytotes in the neighborhood. She never told us about it. She didn't hear our neighbor knocking or didn't pick up the phone. He was visiting there for 3 hours before she came looking for him. We were really sad about it because she was so good with them. She told us she thought it was no big deal. That was the clincher after 12 years of working for us.

Anyway, we tried another sitter. We can't kennel our Gizmo. He'd have a terrible time of it and actually so would Daisy. Gizmo came from the pound and was so sick from being there - all stressed out. A friend of mine said she'd take them in if we couldn't find a good sitter. They have stayed at our friends house before so we're thinking that's a good option.

For us, that's the hard part of dogs and travel - leavign them and making sure they have good care.

Nothing better than having them stay at a friend or relatives house. I wouldn't be comfortable with a sitter that just comes twice a day or leaving her in a kennel.

The only kind of dogsitter I would have is one that lives at my house while I am gone. That's all I've ever had for Daisy and Gizmo. They don't go out unaccompanied. We have hawks and coyotoes in the neigborhood who might prey on my puppies. our neighbor lost his Fox Terrier a few years ago to a Coyote...

Dogsitters are tougher than cat sitters. You can't just leave dogs alone and have someone come in once a day, for sure. But most dogs love a good kennel; our dog wanted to stay the first time we went to pick her up--she had just been bathed, and pranced out and said hello, then tried to prance right back in. Go figure. I understand that some dogs would be traumatized by this.

With a cat, you can have someone come in once a day and spend some time with them, and do the necessary. The important thing is that they stay in their home turf and not be moved. For our December trip that's what I'm going to do for the last part, since our son is coming down to LA to meet us and spend time with family. Normally he cat sits for us, but it can be onerous for him, if he doesn't feel like living here for 2 weeks.

Unfortunately, my cat has asthma and I could never leave her alone. She will be staying at Aunt Betty's for FUN smiles She has moved so much lately that the new surroundings at Betty's house won't bother her.

Only four puppies to watch now. And it appears that "Snow White" has been reserved.

They are very active at the moment. So much fun to watch!

That's too bad Karen. My favourite ever cat had asthma, paid a fair amount of money keeping him well over the years. But he managed to live until 16, not bad for a boy cat. I'm sure they have better medications now than they did 20 years ago.
