Can anyone out there tell me anything about this place? Jan and I are suppose to go there with some friends in October to golf around the area.

Well, since Indio is in my backyard, I should know the answer to your question but I am ashamed to say, I don't! I do know that if you want to golf, you will definitely be coming to the right place, especially during October - the weather at that time is "Chamber-of-Commerce" perfect. The Coachella Valley is so beautiful, surrounded by chains of mountains of various height, texture and color. Add to that the desert landscape dotted with palm trees of every imaginable variety. The sun never stops shining! You'll love it here, Jim. Maybe we can get together for a drink or two when you are here!

Jim, I know nothing about the resort so I Googled it. I did find a forum for the resort and someone posted some of their pictures from there stay here. You probably have already visited these links, though!

I don't know the property specifically - but looking at their website, it's pretty isolated (North of I-10 from the main area of the "Greater Palm Springs") where all the golf courses are (just off Route 111). Property appears to be a timeshare, so unless you/they own a unit there or are "trading" in time that you have no use for elsewhere, I would not recommend it. [Edit - just looked at the pictures in Karen's link - how depressing]
You can Priceline the Resort level in the Indian Wells zone and are likely to get the Hyatt Grand Champions (we've stayed there - nice property right on the Indian Wells Golf course) or the La Quinta Resort (part of the Waldorf Collection of Hilton). Priceline seems to vary from $60 in the summer to $140 in peak season (now). I would guess that October would be around $100.

Indio is know for hosting the Date Fesitval each year and not too much more. Near the 29 Palm Marine Base. Really too far from Palm Springs/Desert Hot Springs or Indian Wells.
Peter is right on, unless you just want to be at the one property.

Indio is approximately 20 miles from Palm Springs, approximately 9 miles from Palm Desert, approximately 5 miles from Indian Wells and approximately 23 miles from Desert Hot Springs. The entire area is growing like mad. If you are planning on renting a car during your stay, easy drives from Indio to any of these areas, Jim. We have a good friend who lives in Palm Desert and loves it. Every time we visit, it seems PD just gets better and better. City of Indio

Friends of ours belong to a time share program. (I guess), and have reserved a 3 bedroom 3 1/2 bath 1,700 sq. ft. condo at this place and invited another couple from Seattle and us to join them. They are paying for it and all we have to do is show up and buy dinner a couple of times. Yes Karen I did look up this place and I must say the pictures don't give a positive image. They will be driving over from Phoenix and said we don't even have to worry about a car.

Jim: I think half the fun of traveling is being with friends - go and enjoy!!!!! We have stayed in some funky places with friends, no Four Seasons, and have wonderful memories!!!

You are right Joanna. That is what we plan to do. Don't see this couple very often and have always had a wonderful time together.

It may not be a Four Seasons, but who cares....it still looks nice to me. If someone were kind enough to invite me to stay for free and it was with friends that I don't see often I'd go without any hesitation.
We rent cabins in the N. GA mountains that aren't ultra luxurious, but heck at times you have more fun in a place like that!
Look at our not so luxurious cruiseliner TUSH - that thing should be condemened, but we all had a great time on that cruise! :woh:

Jim, Valerie and I live in Indian Wells, just around the corner from Indio. I will drive over to this resort this weekend and check it out for you. If I can I will get some pictures. Chuck and Valerie (Lamb)

This is JimB's thread - but just wanted to say how thoughtful of Charles & Valerie to check out Jim's spot - look forward to meeting you on Lamb - good to have some CA people "in the know" about distances -

Jim: Just returned from Worldmark;LOCATION,LOCATION,LOCATION. Somewhat isolated, you will need a car. Similar to Del Webb retirement communities, but not as nice. Greens, well manicured.Has clubhouse and carts. Property still under construction. Units seem to be tri level, or three floors and all are attached. Did not see if clubhouse has a restaurant. Closest food Indian casino, has good buffet and entertainment. All palm tree tops facing the same way.Indicates heavy wind area. Can't beat the price but rent a car you will have a great time. Will forward pictures.Send me your e-Mail Mine is, Chaz@dc.rr.com Chuck

Thank you for looking. Our friends are driving over from Phoenix and picking us up at the airport so don't need a car. Easier if you don't mind sending it to my work address. I don't have DSL at home. www.jim@wamitchellagency.com
