I'm sure many of you read about the bus crash that killed 12 American tourists in Chile. Turns out they were passengers from Celebrity's Millenium, on a privately arranged shore excursion. There are a few folks on CC who are related to, or are friends/neighbors with the passengers who died. So sad...especially for something like that to happen at a time that is supposed to be so full of joy and fun.

My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to the families and friends of the victims, and to all the rest of the passengers on that cruise who must now be feeling such awful grief. We all know how close we can become with the people with whom we share our vacations.

Oh my gosh how sad!

I think we all sort of take for granted "we are on vacation we will be just fine" yet there have a been a few times riding on a bus from the resort to the airport in Jamaica where I did some silent prayers for fear I'd never see my loved ones again as the bus driver was driving so fast and reckless (the worst thing was some drunk passengers were egging him on and loving it)!

What a sad thing to happen, can you imagaine how the families who had loved ones on that cruise wondered if they were on that tour.

We were on a tour bus in Eygpt, when a tire blew. No one was hurt , but very scary..

My thoughts and prayers go out to the friends and families of those who lost their lives. Wasn't there a couple of passengers who survived?

My thoughts and prayers also go to the families at home of those who died and the others who were traveling with them. I went over to the CC Celebrity Board and saw the posts from the family member and friend. It is so sad.

Sandy - I think the Cruise Critic server is being taxed to its limits with all the posts there. (My short post ended up being double posted because my computer showed it as timed out and I hit submit again. The 2 posts are 7 minutes apart.) On page 13 of the Celebrity section there is a transcript of the 9am press conference today from the President of Celebrity Cruises. The two injured passengers are now in stable condition but moved to ICU as a precaution. A doctor and nurse from the ship are staying at the hospital.

If you can get the main Cruise Critic page to come up there are several articles there under the News section. I was able to just go there again a minute ago after failing to be able to get the boards section to load.
