Hi,

I curious about something.

If I wanted to just sit on my balcony in the afternoon sipping on an adult beverage and snacking on some cheese and stuff, is this something that Radisson would bring me, or not.

Jason, you will have a bottle (does a single cruiser get two, or just one?) of your choice of alcohol in your suite, free of charge. Also, in the fridge will be a couple of cans of beer and several different mixers.

While I didn't look for cheese and stuff on the room service menu, I'm sure they would bring it to you.

We have ordered cheese and crackers from Room Service, no problem, also shrimp cocktail, and in the good old days, one could get caviar, and they will still do it, but they charge for it now. Have also ordered guacamole and chips. Also, don't know what kind of cabin you are in, but if you are in a cabin with Butler service, you will get canape's brought to your room every evening by the Butler, usually around 4:30 or 5:00. As Pam mentioned, you will have some beers in the refridgerator (and they will replenish them but they charge to do so), you get a bottle of liquor of your choice at embarkation and you also get a bottle of champagne complimentary at embarkation - which I ask them to exchange for white wine and they do it no problem.
Hope that helps. cheer cheer

Hi Jason,

Radisson ships have 24 hour room service. Look at the menu in your cabin. Delivery is usually less than 20 minutes on a bad day.

You will enjoy Radisson,
Beth

Hi,

It must be the soda and water the replenish in the rooms for free then, because I thought I read somewhere that they do replemish daily for free.

Heck, I wish I could do the butler service cabins, but since I am going solo I will have to stick to the H Class. Just to get into a penthouse B room (with butler service) it would cost $3,048(room)plus $2,286 (single supplement) plus $210 (fees) =$5544 instead of the $3078 I would be paying now. I don't know any butler service that is worth $2466 dollars.

I believe you can "trade" a bottle of alcohol for a six pack of beer or a bottle of wine. Enjoy!

Cheers, Anne

Jason, don't forget you can also freely bring back wine and spirits from any port you are in as well. Bringing back the local beer or spirits and drinking them on your balcony is great! :hyper:
You don't have to hide your purchases like you would on other lines.

Solo cruisers do get two bottles as well. It's definitely not worth upgrading to the butler suites--the bottom dollar suites are plenty spacious for one person. Room service is quite good at catering to your every culinary whim--no need for a butler for that. But, if the ship is not an all-suite ship (Navigator, Diamond and Paul Gaugin), the upgrade to a balcony suite is definitely worth the extra on most routes (tho' probably not on, say, a September cruise in alaska). And, yes, it's sodas and water that are replenished daily. If you want extra of something in your fridge, just ask your stewardess.

Thanks for the feedback.

Here is the cruise I am going on:

Ft Lauderdale, FL to Ft Lauderdale, FL 7 Nights
Departs December 05, 2005

Monday Dec 5 Ft Lauderdale, FL 17:00
Tuesday Dec 6 Nassau 08:00 16:00
Wednesday Dec 7 At Sea
Thursday Dec 8 San Juan 13:00 23:00
Fri Dec 9 St.Thomas-Charlotte Amalie 08:00 16:00
Saturday Dec 10 Grand Turk 15:00 19:00
Sunday Dec 11 At Sea
Mon Dec 12 Ft Lauderdale, FL Disembarks at 07:00

Cost $3078 for an H class room (306 sq ft suite plus 50 sq ft balcony = 356 sq ft total space. This amount includes all Port Handling and Security Charges, plus the dreaded single supplement.

Comparied to other cruise lines and suites close to this size, since everything is included in this, it is actually about $200-$300 cheaper for me to choose Radisson.

Jason, If you pay with a Platimun American Express card, you will be rewarded with $225 onboard ship credit.

Here is an explanation of which AMEX card qualifies

Jason - sorry didn't mean to imply that you should pay the extra for a room with a Butler, I was just commenting on it because I didn't know what category you were booking. The H is fine, and you will get all the same service, just not the Butler, which some people like, some don't and some are neutral. We've had one when we were on Mariner in 2003, didn't have one this time on Navigator - I'm neutral about it, and since we didn't have one and thus didn't get the canapes in the evening, I tested the room service by ordering things a couple of times and it was no problem whatsoever. We had a cocktail party in our room on this last cruise, and the day before I call room service, talked to the room service manager, and we discussed what I wanted and when, and walla......on the appointed day at the appoointed hour a waiter showed up with our shrimp cocktail, guacamole and chips, and cheese platter - set it all up very nicely, asked if we needed anything else and that was it, our guests arrived and we consumed the food and drink and left for dinner, when we came back it was all cleaned up. We have also ordered snacks just for ourselves, again, its no problem.

You can ask ahead to have specific hors d'hoevres sent to your room at a specified time, butler or no butler. We are of the opinion that the service is so wonderful on RSSC that you don't need one. We have had butler service on 2 of our trips.

The H room is lovely. We always book it on the Voyager. If you are not delighted, here is a trick to getting a bigger room at less cost. Ask quickly when you get on board to speak to the concierge. If a larger room is available, you will be charged the difference between an H room and the room you want LESS 50%.

I agree - the service is wonderful with or without a butler. I asked my stewardess about cranberry juice and limes in the fridge for pre-dinner cocktails - she called room service right then and put in a standing order for the juice and limes which arrived promptly almost every evening at 6. I am sometimes a single traveler and sometimes not - and the upgraded suites can get very expensive with the single supplement. Be careful about pre or post cruise accomodations - they are more than double what you can get on your own once the single supplement is added by Radisson.

For what it is worth, we've taken seven Radisson cruises without a Butler, and never missed it. The non-alcoholic drinks in your mini bar are replenished, whereas the alcoholic ones are not. And while I never drink but a small fraction of the hard liquor provided, I do often bring back local beers and wines from port for my balcony, and there is no problem with this. Then all that need be done is order a cheese tray from room service, and you are there. Also, for some reason, additional bottles of wine pop up in my room. I don't know if it's Seven Seas Society, my TA, AMEX platinum, or what, but why ask?

Thanks,
Richard :) :) :)

Just a quick question for my sister who is planing a trip on the Mariner next year to Alaska. She and her group like to fix a "Manhattan" or twooo before going up for dinner. Do you guys think RSSC would provide the sweet vermouth and the cherries for their little treat? Mahalo John & Christina

Todd and I love the cheese tray. We enjoy a glass of wine and the cheese tray on the balcony, then we start getting ready for the evening.

They do a nice job, good selection of cheeses, grapes, and several types of cracker.

We haven't had a butler on either of our RSSC cruises. Never missed it.

Only one problem with RSSC for your first adult cruise, Jason. You're gonna be spoiled for life! :)

Jason,

I travel solo also. I requested a prime Vodka and it was there plus a bottle of Champagne.

On Radison you can have all that you reguest.

When you sit down for dinner all drinks are free.

Have a great Cruise,

JPar

I think you can order the Cherries - the Vermouth could be a 2nd bottle, but you can bring your own small bottle. I did that with Cointreau since I was not sure I could get that on board to make my Cosmos!
