OK...don't laugh, my new BMW is sailing out of Bremerhaven today (I hope) aboard the Franconia. It's a RORO cargo vessel which sails what they call the "Atlantic Shuttle"

Here\'s the proposed schedule for the ships

One of my friends who works for BMW North America helped me find out the car is on the ship headed for Charleston.

So...if there are stalkers about - look for the Franconia...and my new Bimmer!

LOL Margo, we will stalk just about anything! Here is a non-streaming view of Southhampton harbor (tomorrow's port, I think ):

And here are 2 live streaming Southhampton webcams

Karen...you're a doll!

Actually, I wish I was taking a cruise right now but Tom says the car gets priority - I have to wait until December... :(

Margo,

Which Bimmer did you get? We have a 330i (mine) and a 530i (Frank's) - we just got the 5 after having several 7's. Love those Bimmers!

If you have your production number you can follow the ship via the BMW Website under My BMW)

Happy Motoring!

(FYI-BEEMER is the Motorcycle amd Bimmer is the car)

Margo, I'm sharing your excitement! <img border="0" alt="[vhappy]" title="" src="graemlins/icon_vhappy.gif" /> Nothing like a new ride. I'm waiting also but mine is coming from Alabama

Kathy...thank you for the bimmer education - I'm getting a 530i - titanium silver with black interior - beautiful (I hope). I looked at the 7s but don't need all that horsepower - especially with the price of gas - since we're keeping my XK8 I can have speed when I want it.

This is going to be our "grown-up" car - 4 doors, no rag top - a little boring but I'm excited.

Maybe that's it....ready to board! LOL

Some BMWs come from Austria, South Carolina and some even from South Africa.

My son ordered his bimmer from Germany also. He tracked it everyday until it arrived here in the states! You might say we're a bimmer family. I have a Z4, my husband and 2 sons have the 3 series, and my daughter has an X5. We love them!!

This is my first bimmer! I got interested after BMW sponsored the Drive for the Cure. I drove every model that day - more than 100 miles. I had to consider a company with that kind of corporate culture. They make a donation to the Komen Foundation for each mile driven.

I've never tracked a car before - obviously the cargo ships don't do 20 knots - it takes about 14 days from Europe to Charleston - but there is a stop in Southhampton and Baltimore.

Margo, you are going to LOVE your BMW. We've had a 328 convertible, 330i (bright red...was my favorite car EVER) and now a jet black X5 which I nicknamed Darth Vader, LOL!

We can't wait for the 3 Series hardtop convertible to come out!!!!

Anyhoo, happy stalking, Margo!

Thank you friends....I'm not a real car fanatic, but I love getting a new car - probably because there where many years in my life when I was just hoping the old heap would start!

Suzie...what's your new ride going to be? If it's delivered in Alabama does it have to be RED???? LOL

Joanna...you know, my husband and many of his friends love to tell the "do you remember when" stories - and most of them include things like - "we were so poor...." (add your own scenario).

I, on the other hand would rather not remember those days - these are MUCH better. But our pasts shapes us and that's usually good!

margo,
congratulations on one of the best decisions of your life! buying a bmw! our son, Christoph custom ordered a 5 series last june from the dingolfing factory in germany and took delivery of it in spartenburg, n.c. the factory tour was such a highlight of the trip. he had a blast taking the driving performance course. he also tracked it from the factory in germany to the port where it was put on an undine vessel so he can totally relate to your excitement. so once it gets here, enjoy! (you can read about his adventures ordering and receiving delivery of the bmw on our website, www.vonholleben.com just click on bmw). by the way, there was no reduction on our cell phone bill from the alaskan cruise. we had to pay the full $1,200.00 bill. ouch!

Margo - good luck with your new car. I've done the Drive for the Cure almost yearly from the start (10 years ago) although did miss a couple of years. It was really neat that I found my signature on the signature car from the first year a few months later at the LA car show.

Alabama - must be a Mercedes SUV :)

Congratulations, Margo, on your purchase of "The Ultimate Driving Machine!!" (I was waiting for someone to state those words. My "future" son-in-law always says that to new owners.)

And, Suzie, your choice is outstanding too! Such classy ladies :) Michele

Barbara...I love Christoph's blog on his Bimmer. It was fun to read. I'm sorry about the phone bill - that hurts!

I think I'll be walking in your neighborhood this fall - the Breast Cancer 3 Day in Tampa Bay is head that way (I think) - don't know the walking route yet but could be near you!

Hope all is well with you and the family - missed cruising with you to Tahiti...maybe some day!

Peteropny - I signed the car this year - hope I get to see it some time in the future - good for you for driving so many years - next year I plan to be there all day, racking up the miles.

Suzie...new wheels sound very NICE!

Michele...can't wait for that "ultimate" drive!!!

Susie and Margo - I had the Titanium Silver in my old Bimmer and now have the Sparkling Graphite (Sort of a pewter). Love those colors - always look clean. Frank got the Titanuim too.

Really looks good with the gray interior.

margo,
funny you should mention our missing the cruise together to tahiti. we went to alaska again instead but guess what!? more news, within 24 hours of getting home from our alaskan cruise, christoph became engaged (yes, to the cause of the $1,200 cell phone bill LOL) and he and his wife will be going on the Paul Gauguin in feb. of this coming year on their honeymoon. later on i'm sure i'll be asking lots of questions about tahiti. and if you do the walk nearby us this fall, please let us know, especially if there's any way we can help!
