I have Yahoo! A couple weeks ago I was on the computer and got an alert sound when I got new email. I thought this was so cool, but it only lasted a day. I can't figure out how to get it back. As you can tell I am not very familiar with the computer yet. ( I have Windows XP) I hope someone can help me, I am lost!! Rocky, I have Yahoo mail. Are you using Internet Explorer, or Mozilla Firefox or just going to Yahoo on the web? Are your speakers on?

Kathy, Not sure if this is answering your question. I am using SBC Yahoo mail. I had audio and a pop up alert above the task bar. When I was online it would show up with a noise (scared me every time) and a pop up saying who the email was from Thanks, R

Okay - that is different Yahoo mail - it's SBC. Yiou might have a pop up blocker enabled and that would block the new mail indicator.

I use SBC Yahoo and my email sound works. Go to edit, then preferences, then mail & news groups, then notifications. This is where you check if you want the sound or not. A small screen will also appear in the lower right hand corner just above the bottom task bar that will tell you the # of emails. Mine seems to check it every 10 minutes.

Thanks Kathy & Betty, I went to live chat with SBC yahoo and they talked me through it. It was yahoo messenger. I needed to add a few things. I still don't know how I had it before. I try not to mess with too many buttons. Thanks a lot!! R
