Any suggestions for a hotel close to the airport in Rome and one that a taxi might find from the port. Air France has now cancelled their afternoon Paris-Houston flight so we will have to overnight then take an early AM flight. I gather they will only have one flight in the future - not surprising. Would like to be close to the airport.
Thanks for your help-- Jan

Jan - I haven't been to Rome in years but will be there in September. In my planning, I've found that there is a Hilton hotel adjacent to the airport terminal, within walking distance. That's the option that's closest to the airport. There's also a Hilton Garden Inn within the airport complex, but it requires a shuttle ride. I have no personal experience with either, but I hope that will help you get started.

Any other recommendations on Jan's question? My FIL and MIL will be in Rome post-cruise and have a 6 AM flight out. They would prefer to stay near the airport to minimize travel hassles in the morning. Has anybody stayed at the Hilton at the airport or have any other recommendations? Thanks in advance!

The Hilton is a short moving walkway walk over to the airport terminals. It is pricey, but so convenient.
It is an OK hotel, nothing fancy - we've stayed there twice - once on a regular floor, once on the club floor where the rooms are a bit nicer and you also get snacks, drinks, etc.

To follow on to my 2008 post - we did stay at the Hilton in the airport in September 2008 and it was exactly as Leslie says. Very convenient. We used points and our room was assigned on the club floor so it was nice (seemed recently renovated) but we didn't get access to the club itself. I would highly recommend it for that 6 am flight if the cost is not prohibitive.

There is a Sheraton also right near the airport. Not on the airport grounds but they do offer a free shuttle to the airport and one to the Spanish Steps on a regular basis so you can see some of Rome while you are there.
