I see some old posts about the Lapo Palace Hotel but it appears from the reviews that it is a bit out of the way. Was that a problem, for those of you who have stayed here? We are going next September to Lisbon and have not been before so likely would rather have something more centrally located unless this Hotel was worth the distance? Anbody have any other suggestions? ---------------------- Helen

If it's close to a metro station you can get anywhere easily and cheaply. Jim

We have stayed at the Ritz Four Seasons and it was very nice, as well as being centrally located. It's a bit pricey, but worth it IMHO.The Tiara Park is right next door and is not as expensive, but is nice. In Oct we are staying at Lapa Palace and are looking forward to it. It is a bit further from downtown, but it's closer to the port than most of the other hotels. Friends have stayed at the Marriott and said it was OK. I would suggest that you check Tripadvisor for recent updates. Lapa Palace has been rated the best hotel in Europe by the way.

Silversea booked us in the Lapa Palace in 06. It is a lovely hotel on top of a smallish hill. It is within walking distance of some restaurants and museums and as Doug says, closer to the port area.

I was looking at the Four Seasons as well. we will be on Oceania's new Riviera and they offered a free night at the Marriott but that also looked to me to be out of the way, so we passed and got a credit of $500 for the "free" hotel. So I feel like I am already up $500 and willing to pay whatever for a nice hotel in the right location for people who have never been to Lisbon before. The Lapa is the best hotel in all of Europe? Seriously? I may have to book for that reason alone. Thanks for the help all. ---------------- Helen
