We recently had the pleasure to meet Madson Araujo, a private guide in Rio De Janeiro.(January 2009) We found him to be very personable, professional and one who spoke fluent English. He also speaks Portugues,French,Italian, and Spanish. We would definitely recommend him for indepth travel within Brazil. His website is www.tourguiderio.com

Mel - Thanks for the recommendation. Madson has been recommended by several posters on CC, as well. We intend to contact him regarding his services when we are in Rio pre-cruise in December. Did you use him for just a day or for several days? Cheers, Fred

I posted about Madson at LCT on this thread: http://www.luxurycruisetalk.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic&f=6&t=000216

Also, check out my blog post about our experience with Madson. He's great! http://myitchytravelfeet.com/2009/01/28/choosing-a-guide-in-rio-de-janeiro/

Donna - A thousand pardons, indeed. Now that you remind me, I had seen (and bookmarked) your recommendation of Madson before I saw those on the South America board at CC. Please consider my unfortunate abundance of senior moments (or maybe, chardonnay moments??) before writing me off as an ungrateful wretch for not giving you the appropriate attribution for the reco.

Cheers, Fred (I think)

Freddie - you just continue to be the funniest person!!! I LOVE all your posts and just get so many laughs from them. We had such a good time on CROSS with you and Pat, and I sure hope we someday, somewhere, somehow, end up cruising together again!

In the meantime - to you both.
