Just read this thread. Could not read the threads when I was gone. I did see a tentative list of sailings with NO SSS discounts. Mostly prime cruises, Alaska, Baltics etc. The majority of cruises that probably most of you will take will still have the 5% discount as usual. I really think for those that cruise a lot this new program could turn out to be better. To have the 5% for everyone after one cruise on all sailings and then nothing for the multi night people was not really right and they have received a lot of flack over that issue for several years. Change is hard but often if you just give it all time to develop things turn out better than you first anticipated.
I do agree they should have announced it all at the same time. I think since people would start to book as soon as 2006 was out they needed to have the cruises identified as to the SSS discount applicable on release of the 2006 schedules. The other benefits offered are bound to not be price related hence not affect 2006 bookings immediately. Rather things such as upgrades, or free cruises at a certain point level, or the laundry or whatever they come up with for the additional benefits. The decision on what to offer is a big one and I think with all the other issues they just did not get this all figured yet. I do think they SHOULD have done that but my guess is other things had priority.
